If you are surprised

then you aren’t paying attention.

It was announced today that the National Guard’s occupation of the Capitol will be extended for another 60 days. I told you three weeks ago that they would be staying indefinitely, even though they were claiming that the assignment would only be until mid-March.

They claimed that there was a threat for March 4. That didn’t happen. This is all a bunch of smoke and mirrors. This is a permanent Republican guard. All that is missing is that El Presidente isn’t wearing his military uniform.

Let the games begin

My tax records have all been sent to the accountant. Let me say that I am against the stimulus checks. With that being said, no one is listening, so my goal is to maximize my chances of receiving whatever they are going to hand out. So that is the instruction that my accountant has been given:

Find a way for us to legally get as much of that money as we can while limiting our tax exposure. If that means that I have to claim all of the income from our business ventures and investments, and then we file separately so at least one of us gets the money, then so be it.

So the accountant tells me that she will run different scenarios to see which way and what deductions will result in the best financial situation. That is why we pay her, after all.

Lying liars that lie

The director of the FBI says, “We have not to date seen any evidence of anarchist violent extremists or people subscribed to Antifa in connection with the sixth.”

How would he know? Why, not even six months ago, the very same FBI director testified under oath to Congress, and had this to say: “Antifa is not a group or an organization. It’s a movement or an ideology.”

How can both statements be true? They cannot. This leads me to one of two conclusions: Either the FBI is lying and is a part of the cabal that overthrew the legitimate government of the United States, or the FBI cannot find his ass using both hands and a treasure map with a giant ‘X’ on it.

The press backed up the statement that Antifa is not an organization, as did the official mouthpiece of the coup, so my bet is on this entire thing being a coup.

You get what you pay for

Democrats’ latest tax borrow print and spend idea is to pay people to have children. They are going to send out checks to the parents of every child (as long as the parent makes below a certain amount of money) in the amount of $3600 a year PER KID.

Let’s use my home state as an example: Florida’s minimum wage is $8.65 an hour. That means that a person making minimum wage earns $17,992 a year. SNAP is limited to those who earn no more than 130% of the Federal poverty line. That means that a family of three is considered to be SNAP eligible if they are earning about $26,000 a year or less.

Let’s use that as our example: A single mother of two, ages 10 and 6, who is earning minimum wage. She would receive $500 a month in SNAP benefits. That same woman would get $6,600 a year in Earned Income Credit. There are other aid programs out there that will get her more benefits, but let’s concentrate just on this for now.

Adding up all of her benefits, a woman making minimum wage has an annual income of nearly $45,000 a year, and the only taxes she pays is Social Security and Medicare at $1,350 for the year. Her effective income when adjusting for the taxes not being paid on her handouts? She is making the equivalent of $65,000 a year.

The most lucrative job to have is making more ‘poor’ people, who will grow up and vote for more handouts.

Quote of the week

In honor of our loss of one of the greatest speakers of my lifetime, I present to you Rush Limbaugh’s quote of the week:

I’m convinced that a lot of people simply don’t know what’s available out there and how it is possible to find a job and work your way up if you are willing to accept responsibility for your life. I know what it’s like to be on the bottom. I’ve been broke. I’ve been fired seven times from jobs. And I don’t even have a college degree. But I didn’t blame anyone else for my problems. I knew that if I didn’t try to solve them on my own or with the help of friends or family members, no one else was going to take care of me.

Note from DM: This one resonates with me. I have twice been homeless. I once lived in my car. I was taking baths in a 48 quart Igloo cooler. After taxes, I was left with about $720 each payday. $348 in child support was taken from my check, and sent to the ex-wife, leaving me with $720 per month to live on. The rent on my apartment was $600 for a small one bedroom. I was soon homeless and without a car. I got a second job picking up garbage. I got an apartment with three roommates. I bought a car at a “buy here, pay here.” Somehow, I made it. I worked 84 hours a week at those two jobs while going to school with a full class load. I didn’t have a college degree until I was 43, now I have four of them. I went bankrupt in 2009 and started over again. Bankruptcy isn’t an easy way out of debt- I lost everything I owned.

Here I am, 53 years old. I have grandkids. I am now a multi millionaire. I never asked for a single handout- not from government, not from anyone. I busted my ass and did it myself. You know what? Money HAS changed me- it has made me believe that anyone can do it. Go ahead, tell me I am privileged. I will call you a liar. I worked for every single dime I have.

Claiming that others made it when you didn’t because they were privileged is nothing but a bullshit excuse. Stop bitching and whining about how unfair life is, get out there, and do something to change it.

Get woke, go broke

The University of Texas has had a long tradition of playing the school alma mater, “The Eyes of Texas,” at the end of each football game. Traditionally, the football team stands in the middle of the field and sings the song with all of the fans, alumni, and boosters.

Until this year.

This year, students and athletes decided that the song, with ties to Confederate General Robert E. Lee, was racist. Many students and athletes were organizing protests and circulating a petition to have the song banned. It all culminated in the team leaving the field and refusing to sing the song.

The backlash from the boosters and alumni was overwhelming. Hundreds of alumni and donors blasted off emails to the university president, demanding that the school stand up to “cancel culture” and firmly get behind the song — or else donors were going to walk away.

The press is roasting the benefactors, calling them the “worst” and claiming that they are racists.

The school, athletes, and students are free to change the traditions of the school. The donors and benefactors of the school are just as free to withhold donations and endowments. Remember when you lectured us and told us how Facebook and Twitter could do whatever they want? It cuts both ways.

Don’t like it? You can always go ahead and start your own school. Or continue to run the existing one without much of your funding. Isn’t that what you told the right when they complained about FB and Twitter?
