There’s a totally unaccountable agency in LA County that administers (rules, actually) undeveloped portions of the Santa Monica Mountains, in LA County that are used as public parks (with a parking fee). The agency got the bright idea to install hidden cameras throughout their kingdom, which snap photos of automobile rear license plates of any cars that fail to come to a complete, dead stop at stop signs within the kingdom. Drivers receive bills in the mail, complete with photographic evidence. The agency partners with some out-of-state company that operates the cameras and sends out the bills.
Drivers have filed all sorts of complaints and law suits, but, nothing happens. The agency is accountable to no one. It’s great having your own kingdom.

they got rid of the red light cameras in tx…they were actually causing accidents…trying to fight one was a super pain in the ass because they made it a civil penalty so if you didn’t pay, you paid for it in other ways…a ticket is supposed to change a persons behavior, not make money for a city…there a lot of hands in that pie too…the city, the county, the state that all get their cut of the fine…

I believe that the redlight cams in Orlando have (or had at one time) a small blue light attached to them, making it possible to only run the lights with no camera. 🙂
That last sentence was a joke, but it boggles my mind that people will run a red light KNOWING that the camera is there.
