Florida agriculture commissioner Niki Fried announced that she is adopting the Biden plan of selling gasoline that is 15 percent Ethanol (E15), instead of ten percent (E10). This move, they claim, will save motorists 10 cents per gallon, or about 2 percent.

The problem is that E15 has about 3 percent less energy per gallon than does E10, meaning that you will spend the same amount per mile because of increased fuel usage, making this plan a wash. The left is just hoping that you are too stupid to notice.

Even without physics, they more than doubled the cost of gas and are now trying to sell us on saving 10 cents a gallon? I’ve gone from $40 fill-ups to $90 fill-ups. That 10 cents a gallon would save me about 2 bucks. Yeah, only spending $88 a tank will be a dream come true! I could splurge and buy a candy bar. Oh wait, maybe not anymore. Maybe some gum.

And adding insult to injury, my truck is rated to run E-10 but not E-15, so there’s that too.

Let’s see, lack of fertilizer equals less corn grown add MOAR Demand for Corn equals hummmm…

Seems Logical IF you want to make all food prices jump even more and get folks hungry.

Oh, and that a LOT of small engines do very poorly on 15% ethanol and probable engine damage.

Brilliant IF you’re a follower of Lenin.

Plant potatoes friends, they want to pull an old style Homodore on the USA. Please look Homodore up if you’re not sure what that means.

Are you referring to “killing by hunger, killing by starvation”? Interesting.

    Lack of fertilizer.
In unrelated news, expected lack of diesel.

But it’s so much worse. E15 will fuck up any engine – large or small – not rated to run that fuel mix ratio. Therefore you are not only failing to save anything on a cost per mile basis, but it will end up costing many people very expensive repairs on the fuel system components of their vehicles with prolonged use.

Of course these useless cocksuckers know all this, but will do it anyway because they want to screw us all over in every way possible. Further, the minimal reduction in the per gallon cost will be offset many times over by the increase in fuel cost that will occur into the back half of this year anyway, so we are really paying a triple penalty.

And lets not overlook the fact that who knows how many additional acres of farmland will be committed to growing non-edible corn for ethanol production – along with fertilizer already in short supply to help it along – into the maw of food shortages, and we are getting fucked four times over by this policy.

These people all need to get sodomized with a rusty chainsaw. Sideways. Better do it quick though, before that E15 kills the chainsaw engine. Can’t even get parts to rebuild it now, you know.

Even worse, Ethanol is the worst fuel to use in a humid environment. Like…FLORIDA!

Stupid dumb intact female dog of reproductive age!

“ The left is just hoping that you are too stupid to notice.”
Well, so far, Americans have shown they’re pretty damn stupid. Next.

I only run non-ethanol in my Ram, it is about .25 cents more a gallon at the energy company I go to and fill up on ever return from town, also it is readily available cause of boats where i am at. Plus in a pinch i have 20+ gallons on hand for small engines and the small genny. Yep, it cost more but at this point Im just glad i can park the diesel and not have to buy 92/93 premium for most Fords and high-performance cars. Plus Id rather not ruin my motor with that garbage. I get 22 mpg highway with the mds on the motor, I average 18.5 around town running non-ethanol. I know some places around here non-ethanol is a dollar or more, so I guess im lucky to get it cheaper.

Last driving trip to FL (about 5 years ago in a rental car) I noticed a 4 MPG difference between a tankful of South Carolina gasoline going south and a tankful of Florida gasoline going north (same vehicle, same road, same cruise control setting, same weather, same weight in the car, three fillups in FL so it was all FL gasoline). This was after Rick Scott The Gov issued a mandate for FL gasoline to have the maximum allowable 10% ethanol.

If FL goes to 15% ethanol then my choices are:

1) Not drive farther than 200 miles into Florida and upon arrival not drive anywhere in the state to prevent damaging my vehicle (with a full tank my POV has a 450 mile range).
2) Fill up in Florida only with more expensive non-ethanol gasoline (which also carries Florida’s higher per-gallon tax rate on all gasoline).
3) Never go to Florida.

#3 seems like the best choice.

There are only 185 stations in Florida that sell E15. I’ve never seen a pump marked E15 and won’t use one.

The engine damage is a feature, not a bug.

Exactly, it’s an indirect way to get older cars off the road.
Ultra low sulfur diesel does the same thing for trucks.

I have a 2014 Chevy “Flex-fuel” vehicle so it could burn E85. I use 87 octane all the time and there’s little to no E85 around Central FL to my knowledge. There would be a loss of mpg with higher ethanol content and not sure how it would effect horsepower. I’ll stick with the 87.

No wait … I’ll just go out and buy a Nissan Leaf!

Paulb · May 15, 2022 at 11:45 am

This is why I converted my Ram to run on safe, renewable and environmentally responsible whale oil.

No, seriously, Nikki Fried is an ass. I can’t wait to see her run against DeSantis.
