California is going full Socialist. The Los Angeles city council is now moving to require that hotels provide free rooms to the homeless. Hotels will be required to report the number of vacant rooms each day at 2 pm, and then make those vacant rooms available to the homeless free of charge.

Note that LA has approximately 100,000 hotel rooms. The interesting thing is that LA had a 78% average occupancy rate pre-COVID, with that rate having fallen to 49% post COVID. So the city is going to fix the homeless problem by confiscating hotel rooms for public use.

Imagine, the next time you stay in a hotel, that some diseased homeless drug addict may have been sleeping in that bed the night before. Know also that if you arrive at a hotel at 3 pm looking for a room, every hotel in LA will be filled at that point. When you DO get a room, look for discarded needles before you stick your hands into any unseen crevice.

My question here is this: How long before the city decides to force homeowners to house and feed the homeless? How long before grocery stores and restaurants are forced to feed them?

California is a lost cause. If you are there, it is time to get out. Do so before it is too late. Fail to heed this advice and you may pay a heavy price.

How is this not taking private property?
Also, this is going to conflict with Federal regulations requiring rooms to be available to certain categories of travelers until 6 pm.
I don’t see how this will stand up in court for many reasons, but even the threat of it will hurt travel to LA. Do they WANT to kill their tourist and trade show trade?

So goes California, so goes the country. Where to go?

Looks like the vote was just to put in on the ballot for a public vote in 2024. However, the fact that it’s even being considered is insane.

Full West South Africa is a feature and not a bug as part of the Long March.
Stay sharp out there, Californication locusts are on the move!

Yeah, this is a taking, and won’t pass legal review. It was never meant to. It was meant for some scumbag politicians to be seen to ‘do something’ without doing anything, providing feels and publicity for free.
I have recently been thinking that politicians who propose bills should have more skin in the game, pending a legal review- maybe ban them from reelection if any proposed bill with their name on it fails to pass legal review.

I read once, that in ancient Greece, if someone proposed a law he would have to do so on a gallows platform with a noose around his neck. If the law was implemented, the following year that same person would have to stand again on the gallows platform with a noose around his neck. If the people thought his law good, he was at liberty to go about his business, if not he was hanged then and there. That’s what I read.

This will last in court about as long as snowcones in Hell, probably be injuncted before it ever takes effect, and all the city is doing is transferring taxpayer dollars to every plaintiff in the inevitable civil suit they’ll lose, because the city council of L.A. , end to end, is entirely retarded.
In fact, if they stipulated actual medically-diagnosed retards for all the slots in the next election, the IQ and functionality of the City Council would increase, markedly.
