The theory is that armed police shouldn’t be dispatched to calls of violent people with mental health issues. Instead, unarmed mental health counselors should be sent, they claim.

Guess what? Ronald Mosely was under the care of court ordered mental health professionals when he decided to go to his former workplace with a gun in an attempt to kill two of his coworkers. Police had to smoke his ass.

Come to think of it, the majority of spree shooters have been under the care of mental health professionals.

As a medical professional, I think that mental health is not real science. It’s voodoo wishful thinking with fairy dust. I can’t tell you how many of these violent nutcases come into my hospital every week. I was attacked by one in December. He was delusional and thought I was trying to sleep with a female technician in the room, who he mistakenly believed was his wife.

In October, I had another patient who shit in a plastic urinal and threw his feces at me.

Just last week, we had a psych case go nuts and punch a doctor so hard that the doctor’s orbital bone was fractured and it caused bleeding in his brain.

On Friday night, I had a patient who was talking to someone who wasn’t there for over four hours (yeah, he was a nutcase). The doctor wouldn’t Baker Act him because, “Being an annoying asshole isn’t illegal and doesn’t make him a threat to others.” The doctor also wouldn’t discharge him without a drug test. The house supervisor (nurse in charge of the hospital) told me that I *had* to attempt to draw the patient’s blood so we could do the test. The patient told me that he had HIV, and said he would stick me with a needle tainted with his blood if I tried to start an IV on him. I told the charge nurse this, and she said I still had to try. That was when I told her that if she needed his blood so bad, she should be the one to draw it, because I wasn’t going to do it unless he was placed in restraints.

She didn’t do it, either.

There are only two ways to deal with anyone: you can reason with them, or you can use force. People with certain mental health conditions don’t reason or reach conclusions like normal people. They are broken. You can’t bargain with them, you can’t appeal to their better nature. Anyone who insists that this isn’t true is either lying to you for personal gain, or has no idea what they are talking about.

Three in the same amount of days?
False flag Australia style?

One of the primary reasons I’ve actually started telling people spouting poppycock that they have no FC what really happens. If I’m feeling polite, I’ll phrase it as “interesting way of stating you have no fookin clue what you’re talking about”

The older I get, the less I suffer fools.

Having such a broken person living in my home…

Reason sometimes works. Until it doesn’t and then we’re off and running.

Then we have to perform the correct rituals to properly restrain him. Without the rituals, it’s a felony.

That Terminator is out there! It can’t be bargained with. It can’t be reasoned with. It doesn’t feel pity, or remorse, or fear. And it absolutely will not stop… ever, until you are dead!

Yeah, sometimes dealing with nutcases feels the same.
I brought in a guy who while evaluating him for a stroke, realized that he was coo-coo for Coco Puffs.
We restrained him and ED here we come.
A nurse who should have been named Dipshit thought our restraints were overboard and promptly removed them.
Next pt we took in, we find the ED in shambles.
Nutcase had locked himself in the storage room, beat a hole in the door and was ejecting O2 bottles out of it! 😂
Giant fans were set up to air out the ED cuz the cops pepper sprayed the shit out of him.

I’m sure you can tell everyone DM how many people are walking the streets from your neighbors to school teachers that are in some type of psych meds… doctors have that stuff out like m&Ms… in this fucked up world we live in we placate everyone instead of telling them the truth… most of those people just need a swift kick in the ass and told to cowboy up… in the other hand, there are a lot of people that are crazy and they need help… but there is never enough money for them… because they don’t have insurance or money or someone to foot the bill so they don’t get the treatment they really need it locked up like need to be…. dealt with this shit way to often on the street

Not talking about everyone who is on psych meds. I’m talking about the people who are delusional and potentially violent, but everyone pretends that they aren’t.

That ship sailed back in the 70s (?) when do-gooders had the mental institutions closed. Judges should NEVER be allowed to force an institution to take a patient – that’s how we ended up with 2-4x over-occupancy and the stories that went with it. The DFW area has a new mental facility being built, it will be a full capacity the day it opens.

I think there’s a valid place for mental health providers, sometimes someone just needs to have a neutral voice either affirming or guiding someone going though a crisis. But that’s assuming they are dealing with someone that’s not utterly psycotic that as perviously mentioned is not in anyway what so ever behaving or capable of rational thought. And for various reasons either incompetence in the MH profession, family members that enable or society that enables, or even the courts not seeing what is going on these true nut jobs are free in society. I’m not talking about someone that has a stress break down and once removed from a situation is manageable. These people are unable to manage their own lives, their medication, their fiances or personal physical health. The libertarian in me has some concerns that a .gov agency would take advantage of the following and classify anyone they don’t agree with as crazy and needing to be locked up but.. Honestly these people do need to be institutionalized. They are not harmless to others, they are causing other people problems and are not safe to be around. When what you do is impacting others is the time that the behavior needs to end in one fashion or another.
