Officers arrived on the scene Sunday of a stabbing and shot the assailant 14 times.

It looks good to me. However, the cops are already taking criticism for the shooting. The assailant who was shot is a “community activist” who was in favor of establishing “no shoot zones.”

“I think it was overkill and it shouldn’t have went that far,” said Carlton Moorehead, the assailant’s father, who claims his son had been suffering from a mental health crisis, and that police wrongly handled the situation. He insisted that police should have tried to deescalate the situation and gotten his son mental health counseling. Nevermind the fact that he was stabbing the innocent woman, whose only crime was walking down the street while your son was getting all stabby.

The NAACP issued a statement following the video’s release, and said they would conduct their own investigation into the incident, because of course they will. After all, we need to support the rights of black men to be able to stab women in the throat without police interference.

I agree with the father in that “it shouldn’t have went that far”. How many years did the father really need to teach his son not to assault other people with a knife?

Nuck Figgers. Jesus.

Maybe it was OK because he was stabbing a white woman.

Just another day in a shithole city run by democrats.

So the dad knew his son had mental health issues but doesn’t get him help till he goes stabby? Not good parenting there, if any of mine started looking like they were about to go postal I’d intervene before it involved bloodshed.

Of course poor anger control is a hallmark of certain groups so its just as likely he got ‘triggered’ by her walking by and just attacked.

Well, the motherfucker’s dead; so there’s that.

BobF · November 11, 2022 at 11:36 am

Dear fine young man’s father: I am sure de-escalation would have been a wonderful thing, but if he has mental issues (which you know about but seem to have done nothing about yourself), with a fatal jab a millisecond away, what method would you suggest?

Excuse me, but you’re as much an ass as your son, and probably the assigned ACLU lawyer, is.

Is it me or is the cop’s hand shaking as he reloads?

I mean, not that I blame him in the slightest. Just something I saw.

Again, the case against 9mm, as if stats weren’t enough. Bullets aint cheap, we should not waste them using inferior calibers and ballistics. Not asking to change my mind just ask any serious shooter that ever went through a door, 9 aint it. I know sub-guns, FBI, yada yada….

“You can see the victim under the suspect”
That was my first thought when the shooting started.

Given the clearly urgent circumstances the officer faced as he arrived and got out of the vehicle, it’s not surprising he was somewhat rattled, and it’s awful easy to critique when I’m just sitting at my desk, but if any of those rounds penetrated the suspect, they could have easily taken out the victim.

Also, I’m 100% with shooting the bad guys and the final outcome is about as good as you could hope for, but the suspect was no longer a threat after the first 5 rounds.

That kind of extreme stress will make you do some crazy shit, but I’m sure the full mag dump is not going to play well with the “community”.

If I was the officer, I think I’d be looking for a Park Ranger position far away from Baltimore or anyplace like it.

I would disagree. He was still armed with a deadly weapon that he had already used. He was within 6 feet of at least one other person. Until he drops the knife, he is still a threat.

    Who me? · November 11, 2022 at 9:15 pm

Common numbers – it takes ¾ sec for the brain to recognize a threat and engage. By the same token, it also takes ¾ sec for the brain to register no threat and disengage. Texas DPS did a study with their recruits in the early 2000s – even when the recruit KNEW an engagement was coming, it still took ⅔ sec reactionary time.

    Reality ain’t Hollywood.

Fuck him, and anyone who defends him, including the family. Best use of him for his entire life was as a bullet sponge in this video. That was probably long overdue.

My only criticism of the officer was that’s it’s a pity he didn’t get in any headshots (training, policy, etc., blah blah blah – I get it, yet he still should have shifted aim after the first five or so failed to stop things, but that’s a tough call to make in the moment in split seconds), since 14 body hits clearly was barely enough to get the job done, and the target remained a threat until he went into shock and bled out. I’m guessing the officer was looking through two tunnel-vision dixie cups by that point.

I met a cop who earned a medal of valor for an off-duty shooting where he ended five armed robbers angling for becoming mass murderers, with two mags of .45, and shot his piece dry twice by the time it was over, in about 10 seconds.

Seeing why even a fully-loaded Glock was barely enough for one guy is why mag cap bans and “Why do you need XX rounds” questions are best left for ignorant @$$holes to ask.

And mad props for the mag change under max adrenaline stress.
Proper training right there.

On a re-look? After a careful recount, that was 15 rounds, not 14. He got the last one when he was down, and still waving the knife.

One of the few potential upsides to the coming troubles in this post-modernist hellscape economic zone formerly known as a country will be that incidents like this will become so frequent and common – though more likely by civilian action rather than by police – that they will no longer merit any special attention.

The chaos of collapse should also effectively preclude opportunistic whores from capitalizing on the rightful killing of their shitty criminal relative by scoring a big payout in a civil suit.

Let the mass house cleaning commence, we need it very badly.
