The Santa Fe DA says this about Alec Baldwin:

“Guns don’t just go off. So whatever needs to happen to manipulate the firearm, he did that, and it was in his hands.”

Now I still think that Alec Baldwin has enough money and celebrity to get out of it. We all know that there are two sets of laws in this country: One for rich lefties, and one for the rest of us. That doesn’t mean that the law wasn’t broken, just that he will use connections to get out of it.

Rules for thee, but not for me.

Alec will get off with a slap on the wrist, but I think his movie career is over and this will haunt him for his remaining days, till he eats a bullet himself.

I was kind of with Aesop on this. There should have never been any live ammo on set, and the armorer should have personally inspected the gun right before it was handed to Baldwin. Never trust actors to know anything about anything, they play pretend all day. So in that vein I was prepared (however unpleasantly) to give him a pass.

But his little interview, with the fake crying and the “I never pulled the trigger” BS kind of kills that. Nope, accept that you pointed and fired the gun, asshole. It should have been loaded either with blanks or dummy shells, so nothing would happen. That’s on someone else. But you pointed and fired it, so take that shit sandwich and eat it up.

That’s been my point. It doesn’t have to be one or the other. You can blame the armorer for screwing up, but at the end of the day, any idiot knows not to point guns at people. I don’t buy the excuse that they need a certain shot. In this day and age, they can shoot video on Mars with a human millions of miles away. Remote cameras are possible.
