Watch this, and read some of the comments.

My initial thought was that it can’t be real. Then I reconsidered. This is the kind of childish, magical thinking that my children displayed when they were 8 or 9 years old. My daughter once asked me why I wouldn’t buy some expensive car or another. I replied that we didn’t have money for that. Her answer was, “Just go to the ATM and get more.”

That is the exact level of thinking displayed by this man-child, and the comment that followed. Just who is going to provide or pay for the basic, no frills life that you feel should be provided to you?

I had a similar conversation with my niece less than a year ago. My niece made the statement that people should get things that are necessary for free, because we all have a right to the necessities of life. She used feminine hygiene products as an example.

I pointed out to her that, since no one was paying for tampons, there would be no money to pay the people who worked in the tampon factory, so why would anyone work there for free? Her first reply was, “Wait! There is a tampon factory?”

I said, “Well just where do you think tampons come from? Is there a tampon tree somewhere?”

She replied, “Well, in that case, I suppose you could get women to work there and pay them with free tampons.”

I said, “What would that be worth? If everyone already gets tampons for free, what good is it to pay them with free tampons? So how are your employees going to eat, buy gas, or buy a house?”

She said, “That’s my point. Money is stupid. Why can’t everyone just trade and barter for stuff? Why should we all have to go to work just to be able to afford the things we need to live? The government can just print all of the money we need.”

I tried to explain money to her, but she didn’t get it. She is only 14, so I can excuse that. It’s her older sister, who is 21, that is evidence of an entire generation that doesn’t understand money. All they know is that they think somehow it’s their right to receive a living without having to do anything. This is why they all are demanding a living wage, or whatever they want to call it. It’s why they love socialism. They all want something for nothing.

There is a word to describe people working to provide things to people who aren’t doing a thing to earn what they receive, and that word is slavery.

For fear of exploding, I won’t click on the link, lol.
I have this same conversation with my kids about housework.
You consume (electricity, heat, water, food), but what do you contribute? I do not want any money from you, I want your contribution in the form of labor!
Funny how they will entertain paying mom and dad rent they earn washing the dishes at the local fast food joint, but wash the dishes in the sink at home?!?! Heaven forfend!
Its a struggle for sure. Many parents today aren’t up to the task (THAT could be a thread or 12 in itself). We are reaping the poor parenting of previous generations in the working youth of today. Sadly when I extrapolate I invariably come to the conclusion that lots of people ain’t gonna make it.

You can explain to them that for every $10 they earn over their lifetime, $4 is taken in taxes. Some are obvious, like sales and income taxes, others are hidden, like excise and gas taxes.
So they can work around the house for ($10 an hour-$4= $6 an hour) to pay you rent, or they can barter their services instead.
    They probably won’t get it.

I admit I was a light socialist until I saw my first paycheck and said “WTF, where’d all my money go before I saw it?” That right there, at 18 years of age, turned me into a conservative.

What makes it even crazier is the Mk2 version. Where grown fully professionally employed medical personnel say that the Trillions of “AID” to Ukraine means NOTHING because the Fed Printer go “Burrrrrr”.

Sadly, he’s not the only one that thinks all that New Debt is nothing to worry about (AKA Never getting paid off comments).

By some accounts every man woman and child in America is in NEW Debt for Ukraine (NOT including replacing all that military gear and ammo-missiles) to the tune of 1200 dollar each.

Cheap compared to Superbowl seats, eh? Are we getting our Military Sports Ball value, Hans?

Given children don’t pay taxes until OUR Rollover debt AND Interest becomes THEIR DEBT as they try to live that “American Dream”. When I did MY Taxes this year I and my lady paid “our fair share” of about 3K for the military escapades of the Biden Big Guy 10%.

Maybe more since I cannot get a solid number of REAL Taxpayers in America. Best estimate here.

IF AID to Ukraine means the Fed Printer go “Burrr” why not hand every Slack jawed loser a basic living wage?

OR Pay “Reparations” to persons of color that *Might* have had a great-great Grandparent that was a slave?

California LEAD THE WAY to “Social Justice”. (Sarc)

BTW SLAVERY is going on RIGHT NOW in Africa as Child Slaves mine for those Electric “No Emission” Car’s battery materials.

Because Inflation is TOO Many Dollars chasing the same loaf of bread.

Real WORK creates something of value. Money is just a way to pass on my labor in the Surgical suite for a grocery cart of food.

Throwing trillions of “Burrr” dollars around DILUTES the VALUE of MY Hourly WAGE for working.

My Grandparents (German side) fled Weimar Germany and the family stories and diaries were fascinating to me. They went from German Bankers to NYC dockworkers to earn enough to allow other family members to escape Germany to America.

And I SEE what they described in Weimar Germany in my beloved America.

We are going to see 2022 as the Good Old Days.

Has anyone told him he could be making a fortune as a hair care spox model?

Don’t go to the antiwork reddit. It’ll make you long for the sweet meteor of death.

I agree with your niece, she should be able to barter for her necessities. Most people do that with their labor. It doesn’t sound like she wants to do that. That doesn’t leave her much.

IMHO we have a large group of people who want to be someone’s pet. Feed them, bathe them, cloth them and don’t expect anything in return.

It’s been obvious for quite some time that to an awful lot, and increasing number, of people the most basic concepts of economics are beyond their comprehension.

For many of those, also beyond their awareness.

We are in very, very deep do-do and, unfortunately, I do not see any easy way out of it. How rocky the road gets I do not know, but I suspect tread rather than tires would be a wise choice.

I gave my son a chainsaw and all the gear one Christmas when he was about 14 and told him it was his first car. The arrangement was I would pay him $10/hr to clean up our wood lot and keep the woodshed full. $5 in cash to spend or save as he wished and $5 toward a vehicle when he got his license. He liked working outside so much that he became a surveyor.

Needless to say, he has absolutely zero in common with this snowflake, thank God.

I firmly lay the blame on this bullscat on Star Trek (all versions after the original series.) Where nerds and geeks and idiots all bought into the shining socialism of the Federation. Oh, no money needed, everything is freeeeee. Freeeee health care, freeeee food, freeee housing, freeee travel. And everyone got promoted they wanted to be promoted, not because they worked their asses off and got their asses shot off and worked and grubbed for the promotion.

Of course, that would explain why the Federation could get its collective ass handed to it every other episode.

Skyler the Weird · February 17, 2023 at 7:32 am

Socialism is easy if you have Replicators. Stacy Abrams is the only person appearing on any version of Star Trek that looks like someone in the Federation would actually look after replicating and eating Banana Splits all day.

He can have a no-frills life. It’s just not much of a life. For most of human history, a full belly and a roof over your head were frills. Let alone internet and netflix.

What a douche. Give me a Louisville Slugger and a minute alone in a room with him and I’ll make his dream come true.

Jester · February 17, 2023 at 8:42 pm

This is the definition of privlaged thinking. He somehow is better than his peers and others can pay for him to live a easy comfertable lifestyle
