Mark Cuban confirmed that his sports team, the Dallas Mavericks, is no longer playing the National Anthem at any of its events.
The largest recipients of corporate welfare in the USA is sports teams. They get tons of tax breaks, including cities who build their business venues for them. The amount of tax revenue is small compared to the costs. So isn’t it time for the American taxpayer to stop funding billionaire owned business ventures and their multimillionaire employees? Let them pay for their own expenses.

I’ve been saying for years now that cities shouldn’t pay for stadia and other venues.
If they’ll bring in so much more revenue, the teams should be jumping to donut themselves. If they threaten to leave, well, bye. Something is wrong when your idea of civic virtue is wrapped up in and defined by how good your local sportsball team does.

Why doesn’t he just make it official and change his last name to Castro?

I don’t have a problem with stopping the anthem at games. It’s never made sense to me why we even do it.
That said, I also think it’s way past time that sports teams start paying for their own shit. The corporate welfare from the various cities and states that host them needs to end yesterday.
