This encounter is why you don’t answer a cop’s questions. Hand over the license and registration, and then respond with “I am not trying to be disrespectful, but I don’t wish to answer any questions at this time,” and then shut up. If you get officer road rage, it likely won’t help, but at least you have a stronger case later.

No need to admit to anything.
If asked to step out then say am I being placed under arrest.

Is anyone surprised that there are so many ignorant morons in law enforcement? I know there are some – a minority to be sure – altruistic people who are LEO but most are knuckle-dragging mutants who exist to inflict pain and suffering on citizens. Idiots.

Every time sound comes out of your mouth is another opportunity to have it misused against you by the Geheime Staastpolizei, be it the local, state or federal branch.
The only acceptable sounds are – and uttered only at the proper point – “I am requesting to confer with my attorney and to have my attorney present before answering questions.” Lather, rinse, repeat, as necessary. (It is useful to confer with one’s attorney before encounters with the Geheime Staatspolizei occur so one understands what “minimally legally prudent” precisely means in the context of providing information to the Geheime Staatspolizei, its associates, representatives or agents in the absence of attorney-directed discussion.)
Calm, silent to the minimally legally prudent degree, and totally non-emotional demeanor is critical to minimizing the intrusive Geheime Staatspolizei practices; laugh and smile in private, behind closed doors, without any witnesses.
