I have heard the complaints that the guy shouldn’t have shot him when he was leaving, and you know what? I don’t give a shit. If the cops and courts won’t protect their citizens, the citizens eventually will.

Shooting a Cop in Self Defense
An off duty Atlanta cop attempted to break into a residence before being shot and killed by the homeowner. Shockingly, his fellow officers didn’t show up and SWAT the homeowner.

Good chute IMO…..hope he died. And yes, my GAF are gone. As you stated above, if the courts wont handle the problem, the people will.
If I ever serve on a jury with similar cases, I’ll find for the store owner/worker…..

He was still in the store, he was still armed and he was still looking at the clerk. There may have been some distance between them and the robber may have been closer to the door than the counter, but he was still very much a threat.

Our formal criminal justice system is set up so as to punish (or supposed to) criminals well after they have committed their crime.
In broadest brush strokes, shooting a criminal after he’s turned away seems to be the same thing, if rather different in details on the path from crime to punishment.

Saved the one from Cap’s Journal where the babe shoots the handsy guy reaching in to car at the gas station and drives off and one out of Brazil where liquor store robber gets ventilated after beating on a patron making a selection.
