Here is the online discussion I am in:

Rando Karen: Get rid of all the automatic weapons there is no need for them. You certainly don’t need them to hunt & you’re not taking away the 2nd amendment right. If the house & the senate don’t pass this kind of a bill then maybe they don’t need their jobs. Let’s vote in those that will pass a bill that makes sense to the American people & get rid of those that want to lobby with the NRA & spend our hard earned tax dollars.

Divemedic: Name one automatic weapon being manufactured and sold to anyone but police and military.

Antigun Rando: Splitting hairs for deflection, delusIon, and avoidance. Good job!

DM: How is that splitting hairs? The OP said outlaw automatic weapons. No one is selling any.

AR: Semi automatic is still automatic. It also doesn’t say “fully automatic” which is what you’re erroneously running away with.

DM: Wrong. Automatic means that the firearm fires more than one shot with each function of the trigger. Semi-automatic means one shot is fired with each function of the trigger. Important difference. There is no “fully automatic” in the law or in mechanics. That is a term invented by people who don’t know what they are talking about.

Wasting breath and time trying to have an intellectual discussion with an emotional person. The primary problem I see (and do) is treating irrational people in a rational manner. If you’re going to act like a 3-year-old, then you should be treated as such.

I remember a course I took VERY long ago where I was counseled not to expect success using logic when dealing with a drunk. Two totally different planes. I’ve come to believe the same is when dealing with a democrat/gun controller/whoever totally into their way or no way.

You KNEW you weren’t going to get anywhere with that, right?

The karen is actually being honest in that short post. Get rid of selfloaders is the desire, she’s just to stupid to comprehend and explain what she feels.

Machine guns have been banned for civilians since 1986.
There used to be a guy along the interstate with an arsenal that was used in movies with armor, aircraft, MG’s, he is long gone.
Only an FFL can have a fully auto but Karen saw it on the View and the high powered intellects there lasered a hole in her box wine.

Machine guns were outlawed in May of 1986 by closing the registry. Since no more machine guns can be registered, the ones that were already in existence in May 1986 are the only ones left.

And because the supply is now artificially constraint, a $600 M-16 that is transferrable will now cost you about $30,000. A $300 Sten will cost you $10,000.

Just to be the gun nerd… Full auto is a setting on the M1918 BAR.

It had two rates of fire, one using a rate reducer or “slow auto” and the other being “full auto”.

But it’s a real term. And rando Karen doesn’t know where it came from either.
