To the people who think that the Walt Disney Company is going to move out of Florida, I want you to realize just how large the Disney World complex in Central Florida is:

  • 25 resort hotels
  • 4 theme parks
  • 2 full sized water parks
  • The Walt Disney World Resort complex encompasses 30,500 acres, making it approximately the same size as San Francisco.
  • 25 years ago, it cost over $800 million to build Animal Kingdom, one of the 4 parks
  • The Orlando airport has 4 runways, with three of them being over 10,000 feet long.
  • The area is served by three interstate highways and two major airports (Tampa and Orlando)

Some of the attractions in the parks, and what they cost to build (adjusted to 2023 dollars)

  • (Expedition Everest) cost $150 million and took three years to build
  • The Tower of Terror cost $280 million
  • Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure — $120 Million
  • Test Track $300 million

It’s safe to say that the Disney complex would cost a couple of hundred billion dollars. Explain to me how a company is going to build all of that and its infrastructure. They would have to find vacant land encompassing nearly 50 square miles, near major highways and airports, and with a sufficiently large city in the area that would allow for a large enough labor pool to be able to staff this park. Then they would have to come up with $200 or $300 billion in funding, then wait the five or six years it would take to build this park.

Not happening.

Relax, libtard morons will say/do/shit on about EVERYTHING. Florida should think of a way to go after the groomer board members, personally.

Not to mention the engineering and design costs just to get ready to submit a preliminary development plan then the 10 years of permitting hoops to jump through. It would be easier and cheaper to simply buy their own island and found their own sovereign nation.

In other words, not possible.

Went to the CA Disney as a youngster along with Knott’s Berry Farm, Universal Studios and it was a blast but this was 1980’s and some people think the football players say they are going to DW after the SB because they like Mickey Mouse.
The CA DW is better and the ol’ Kings Island end of the day fireworks show is probably the best and the Beast rollercoaster!

Nobody ever said Nimrata Haley was smart and frankly, the majority of South Carolinians aren’t very keen on having a Pedoworld in our state anyway. We’ll settle for South of the Border and Carowinds thank you.

Disney World is a “captive enterprise” with – from a practical standpoint – no other geographic, climatological or economic options. There’s a reason it’s on the east coast – population concentration east of the Mississippi, and a balance to Disneyland in Kali.

So, it needs to be dealt with, and to some degree, worked with, to achieve a reasonable compromise between what Florida wants/need and what Disney wants/needs.

It ain’t going anywhere so Work The Problem. Which Desantis & Co. seem to be doing.

Thanks for that. It went through my mind back when the first salvos were being fired in the Florida vs. Disney confrontation. A little thought quickly led to the conclusion that them moving is pretty much impossible. Disney World ain’t goin’ nowhere. Nikki Haley should be embarrassed for saying something as stupid suggesting Disney should move to South Carolina.

People have been criticizing the governor at the time for bending over backwards to get Disney into the state. It’s possible that whoever the governor was deliberately setting a trap that could be triggered once Disney was firmly in place.

The REAL challenge would be to find a place that would allow you to operate as your own government with police and imminent domain capabilities.

And given the current economic headwinds, no way this would be economically feasible at all.

If Nikki Haley suggested that, she’s too stupid to discuss further.
FL was the only other option in the US due to weather.

Disney is Charlie Sheening itself, and they’re going to be shat upon by Florida, forcefully, with great entusiasm, and from a great height.

The sooner they drop trou and bend over to take what they’ve got coming (which they’ve earned, in spades), the sooner it will be over.

If they’re really lucky, DeSantis’ hand-picked council won’t institute a $500/car toll at all expressway exits that feed their complex (including park complex employees and vendor/support vehicles), and start slapping additional landing fees on every passenger who deplanes at Orlando.

Iger hasn’t realized yet that he’s Loki, and DeSantis is the Hulk, in this little contest of wills.

Considering the repeated stupidity and pig headed forcing of THE MESSAGE by them in their recent series of films and the resulting flop at the box office, I would not put it past them. Disney has a track record of mistakes that they do not seem to have learned from so their arrogance and hubris MIGHT persuade them to relocate, sensible arguments as outlined above to the contrary.

Nikki Haley should be embarrassed by a lot of things, but mostly that she believes that she should be President. Then again, compared to Biden just about anyone could be pResident.
