For fucks sake, what a doofus. Refrigeration gave us air conditioning, and as someone who lives in place where it can get to be 100 degrees and 100% relative humidity in the summer, I say thank God for that. It also made it possible to store foods that would otherwise spoil very quickly, or require preps like dehydrating and treating heavily with salt, to insure they remained “edible” instead of turning into garbage.
My grandmother, when a young woman, went grocery shopping 4-5 times a week even with an icebox. That was in an era with much less prevalent cold storage, and also little in the way of preservatives. Now, one can argue that modern food preservatives have had a deleterious effect on the quality of our food, and I can certainly find some agreement with that notion. But convenience always has some amount of tradeoff.
Much of modern medicine (not that I’m cheerleading the industry here, mind you, as my overall thoughts on it have been posted here before) is reliant on refrigeration. Without it, there’d be no organ transplants, limited storage of blood for transfusions, and many drugs would not exist at all, as they require cold storage. No Sperm banks or IVF, either. Did Adam get his COVID shitshots? Something tells me he did. If so, he can thank modern refrigeration, as not a single dose could’ve been delivered without specialized sub-freezing equipment to keep it “viable” in storage (though my thoughts on the quality and viability of the “stuck n’ fucked” are that they are all dogshit, period).
Whatever. Guy is either a troll, or an idiot. Or both. But it is twatter, so yeah. Nobody can seriously make a statement like that and expect not to be openly ridiculed.

Like, Dude, it’s a total mystery what having abundant energy at a reasonable cost really did for society, like, before that people were doing just fine, am I right? And plastic, Dude, like, everything was pretty cool before that huh? LOL

Wonder just how many of these shitlib dolts who so love to kvell and kvetch about the horrors of modernity know what the average lifespan was before all the things they hate so much came along? HINT: those of them who are under 45-50 would be dead already, which I sometimes have difficulty seeing as a BAD thing.
