Ford dealers have a clause in their sales agreements saying that purchasers of F150s can’t sell them within a year of purchase, or they owe any profits to the dealer.

When they (Ford) was offering low interest (5.5%?), they said you couldn’t pay it off for 6 months or FMC would take the rebates back from the dealer. The dealer screwed me on some accessories (charged me more than even the dealer website listed)……so I paid off my truck the first month.

I have no clue what happened afterwards.

About 15 years back, went to buy a motorcycle from a Suzuki dealership. I was prepared to buy cash (actual cash, in my pocket), but they went on and on about the special credit program and would give me another $400 off the price of the bike if I financed it. So, sat for another hour to get financing approved, got the $400 off the final purchase price, they handed me a loan book, and I went home and wrote a check to cover full purchase and sent it in with the first statement. Paid maybe $10 in interest and saved $390 for about an hour of my time. I made sure before signing that there was no penalty for early payoff.

Well, great. They are sold out of the Ford Lightning, and they ain’t making any more super duties in 2022. And they got giant parking lots full of trucks from 2020 and 2021 with no chips in them due to the chip shortage. Guess what’s coming next? At some point they are going try to off-load those brand-new 2 year old trucks to the public. You ever buy a vehicle that’s been sitting in the sun for years? Yeah, that’s going be fun.

Absolutely asinine thinking on Ford’s part. I would think trucks make 75% or more of Ford’s total profit.

All kinds of recalls of various models and class action lawsuits regarding the ecoboost engine.
At least they are woke and Pajeet has a nice corner cubicle to ignore calls and emails from.
Maybe a pretty pink vulva will be the new model now that the Bronco redux is already on recall.

John Deere won’t let a farmer work on their own newer equipement right now either, there for awhile was a lot of the old 70s and 80s and even 90s tractors that were being bought back up by people becuase they could work on them for ease of the mechanics as well as not having to worry about software lisencing issues. So this sort of thing is not really that new in the aspect of the new stuff you buy today may not even be yours with out a bank note out against it. I’m guessing we may not be to far away where you buy a freezer and you pay a subsquent subscription to keep the thing running. Miss a payment on something you own? We just set your freezer temp to 100 degrees till you pay off what we want you to. Let alone the possiblity of someone hacking this stuff and doing the same thing. All the same I’m sure if Ford is doing it there’s others that are doing it silently or are planning on doing it in the auto industry

Ford’s “Sales Contract” language explicitly says that YOU DON”T OWN THE SOFTWARE that makes the Truck Run. You cannot Change or Modify it, and the Company has the Right to Change or Modify it at Any Time, without your Knowledge or Consent.
At this point in Time, anyone who “owns” anything that is “Software Dependent”
is a Fool.
