I received a similar lesson years ago, I think it was 2004 during a bad spate of hurrincanes blowing through central FL. (Central FL hadn’t had one since 40 years or so, until that year)
I saw people getting in fights *before* the hurricane even hit over how many pieces of plywood you could buy at the home improvement store, and who said someone was cutting in line etc.
Unfortunately that’s one of the more likely reasons you need weapons and the ability to protect yourself, against what people will do when they start getting truly scared, and what they’ll do when they think there’ll be no consequence for just taking what they want by force.
