An excellent article on why the armed US citizen would win in a conflict with their government, but the article overlooks some details. First, what the claim is:
If troops continued to fight, then they would find themselves facing combat veterans who had walked in their boots, knew their equipment, and knew their tactics. Troops would still have to set up security checkpoints. Troops in tanks and troop carriers still have to get out to pee. Troops would still have to drive through hostile cities and interact with the population.
It isn’t just that. I have said before that civil wars are ALWAYS ugly. How much morale will there be when the soldiers manning the armored troop carriers come home to find their family dead? Or will the worker in an ammo factory or civilian making aircraft engines still put out quality work after a military patrol has killed their family for not turning in an old shotgun?
A civil war in this country would be a very ugly affair. There would be no winning, only different degrees of losing.

Sorry, I have to disagree with you this time. The winning would be the complete and utter destruction of the demoncrat/fascist suckcockers and their fellow travelers. When the shooting starts, I think it will not stop until the leftists are f’n dead.

to be replaced by what? It isn’t enough to claim victory by eliminating democrats, which is impossible, since there are tens of millions of them. What is the condition that you would consider a win, and how will you get there?

No disrespect. A boomer who has finally figured out that cops are not on our side should be applauded. But, You don’t get it Boomer. Many of of live hand to mouth. We already lost everything. We don’t bitch about property taxes because we don’t have any property. We don’t whine in the internet about our troubles with passive income because we have no income. A civil war might makes us truly equal. I don’t think you have any idea how many white men have been thrown into this oblivion. If you did, you would retire so a young white man could have your job. But you still have to make your wife happy instead of looking out for your posterity. You are part of the problem. Tell you what, throw away your permission slip to earn a living (Inlost my law license) throw away you house, the Chinese made crap it is full off. Ditch the wife, the cars, everything. Everything! Then figure out how to survive. After you spent a few brain cycles looking for a place to deficate instead of self actualization, we can talk.
At least in a war, I can fight. Truly fight. Sir, I am not trying to disparage you. But you obviously have no idea about the degree of misery going on out here.

As much as it pains me to say it – I agree with you, DM – but not for the same reason. The problem is that we’re fighting an idea. You can (in theory, at least) kill all the followers of the idea – but unless there is a purge of any documentation of the idea (i.e. – history, etc), it’s not possible to keep the infection from re-appearing. It’s also not possible to keep the idea from being ‘re-discovered’ by independent means (or by whatever means it originated *this* time), due to human nature. At best, we might be able to ‘kill off the more virulent carriers of the infection’, but in the end – it’s really an endless ideological struggle. We just have to be sure to guard against the long-term incremental erosion of our freedoms and the creeping encroachment of government to better control it’s regrowth. Teaching *about* it (so we can recognize it and stop it before it gets too far) is necessary, but will still require eternal vigilance to keep it (progressivism, Marxism, socialism, communism, ‘the state as a religion’, and the like) from getting out of hand ever again.

and it wouldn’t just be soldiers and patriots…the disruption in the food supply, water, you name it…a lot of people would no longer be here…i just finished dog soldiers by james tarr…good book…i think it’s very realistic on what civil war would be like…not fun at all…

That would actually be the worst of the initial destruction IMHO. The starving masses in the cities would go tribal on each other, and you would get warlords branching out once they cleaned house downtown and armed up with some newly found National Guard gear. If the BLM\Antifa madness taught me anything it is that once society gives up and crumbles, the cops have no power to stop “those people” in the cities. The cops would get the hell out of dodge immediately in the case of open gun violence and murder. No doubt they have family\friends out in the sticks that matter more to them than Walmart or BLM plaza or whatever other crap lefties think matter. You would find a lot of burned out cop cars and buried uniforms on the way to the countryside outside of Detroit, Chicago, etc. If you are in a city, seriously, get out yesterday, even if we don’t see violence like the Summer of Love again in the next decade (hint: We will. Especially if Trump gets elected.)
As far as a civil war goes, and Swallowswell running his fat mouth, that is all he was doing. The Left, as much as they hem and haw about the Right being Nazis and taking away all the guns, need us more than we need them. Kicking off an actual shooting war with 50+ million people opens them up to an armed invasion and overthrow and they know it….which is kind of scary because I wouldn’t put it past them. We already have a soft invasion and they brag about it.

Never heard it said any clearer or better. Still think it’s coming, but probably not in what’s left of my lifetime.

Sorry, Divemedic, I must differ. The rebels would lose. All the government would have to do is vaccinate its people and their families against anthrax and smallpox, then release those diseases everywhere else. Dumping flesh-eating bacteria into rebel water supplies would be another devastating means of attack,

The problem I see is the lack of coordination of rebel groups. You have many different groups, most of which are already infiltrated by undercover operatives, and there is little to no contact with other groups. Makes it so much easier to stop them before the shooting starts. Then throw in the different groups on the left, BLM, antifa, LBGTQXYZ+79,the illegal invaders, etc and you have a “war” on more than one front. If there was a coordinated effort, it’s quite possible the government could be beat. As it exists currently, your 10.20 or even 100 man crew doesn’t stand a realistic chance. Government has too much technology at their disposal, and all the money.
You can make your stand, and many of us would, and end up the next Randy Weaver or David Koresh. And I doubt your death would get more folks to become the next Tim McViegh than did the last time.Too many folks that will go along to get along..

I agree most groups are already infiltrated. I maintain that belonging to one of those groups now is risky. But in this scenario, where it’s all out CW, I think critical mass will overwhelm the government’s ability to stay ahead of all the many formations that will arise. There is always going to be infiltration and intelligence gathering in both directions, but ultimately the rebelling population would be overwhelming to those trying to keep control.
