The Maine house just passed mandatory background checks for personal firearm transfers. Gun owners have a choice: go through a dealer, or let the cops handle the transfer. Can cops transfer firearms without an FFL? Call it what it is- universal firearms registration.

Would be crazy if people figured out they could just transfer something without paperwork and just not let the govt know.

There’s only one thing this is for – prelude to confiscation. Kostas posted the numbers on twitter and 40% of Maine’s homicides are done without firearms. This program is simply to facilitate the ATF’s illegal registration system that we all know is there to facilitate eventual confiscation during some “state of emergency”.

The problem with comrade lefty is the unshaking belief in one size fits all along with the everyone will obey and follow orders.
It would be fun to target practice on a gun free zone sign but they are usually under camera.
I doubt Daryl and his other Darryl are going to do a background check on a transaction.
The local world class gun shop has highway patrol do background checks from their cars in order to speed up the process.
Donut molester pension mongers usually don’t have FFL but I’m sure they’ll plant some who do.

Not happening. The Senate handily rejected it. Only reason it passed the house was as a symbolic victory for the gun control crowd.
