This goes well beyond the supermarket. I recently priced a water heater. 40 gallon nat gas, 40,000 BTU standard height. My out the door cost (as a plumber) for said heater was $435 in January of this year. The very same model water heater from the same supply house, right now today, will cost me $730. That’s a $300 increase in 11 months. And it is customary for manufacturers to implement a price increase on January 1 every year, so in a few days time, I expect it will be up again.

Best have some plate steel to insert inside the seat of your pants, and a tight grip on your wallet, because here it comes.
