For the third year in a row, Democrats are trying to pass a law making it illegal to stop criminals from breaking the law. The proposed law would make it a crime to detain someone for violating the law, except in two circumstances (off site pdf alert):

  • the person making the arrest is a Florida cop and the arrestee has committed a felony
  • the person being arrested has just broken into the home, vehicle, or vessel of the person making the arrest. The person making the arrest won’t be permitted to use deadly force.

This is aimed at allowing criminals to get away with their crimes, because now no one will arrest them. Store security officers won’t be permitted to catch shoplifters. You can’t detain someone that is raping your wife. You won’t be able to tackle a man that just tried to kidnap your child. I’m sure you can think of your own examples.

This is the reality of the Democrat party. They are pro-criminal and anti citizen. Hopefully, this won’t pass Florida’s legislature, just as it hasn’t for the past two years.

I suspect, whether the Dems succeed, or not, at this, we’ll *not hear* of things going DIY.

I sense there’s a tipping point just around the next bend…..

As a former resident of NY, I feel your pain!
Florida has too many NY’ers! LOL!
Actually this very subject was one of the final straws that made me move to TN. I had a shotgun at the house for home defense, but was investigating a pistol or something smaller for the nightstand, etc. NY does not have castle-doctrine or stand-your-ground laws. Pistol Permits are notoriously hard to get (at the was a may-issue state, and they rarely did).
I’ll spare you the longer version: They are New Yorking your Florida. It’s a huge problem here, we have Michiganders thinking they know how to tell Tennessean’s how they’re supposed to live.
Just like our immigration problem – leave where you live, then turn your new home into your old one and proceed to bitch about the problems you’ve created.
People are stupid.

Shoot, shovel, shut-up is going to be the primary methodology going forward.

“You can’t detain someone that is raping your wife. You won’t be able to tackle a man that just tried to kidnap your child. ”

In the case of the above…Yeah…dog dont hunt for me.

Upclose and personal or 600yds …doesnt matter to me.
Hell…shit stain could end up in my basement…coming apart a joint at a time.

At my age, i got no time for Games of Just-us.

And whatever price for that there is…
So be it.

It’s said you can’t go thru a day without breaking 3 laws, so whats one more? Other option is to keep 811, not 911, on speed dial.

And all of this is intended to neuter normal citizens to the point where we have to depend on a shitty government to protect us.

Extrapolate the shoot, shovel, shut up concept – you could potentially see an entire industry of mechanics popping up with such a high demand.

Name and shame every single sponsor of this bill.

The only sponsor that I can find is Rep. Christopher Benjamin, from district 107. He’s an Islamic former NAACP President that graduated from a Catholic law school in Miami.
