There are those who say that I “hate cops” because I disagree with their actions when they screw up. Well, here is a time when I think that the police were completely justified in their use of force:

I don’t care that she is a girl. I don’t care that she is, at 16 years of age, still legally a child. She entered into a fight with a police officer and attacked him in an attempt to disarm him and acquire possession of his weapon. The police must presume that, should she gain control of this weapon, it will be used against them.

For that reason, the officer was entirely within the bounds of being reasonable when he threw her to the ground. This is a clear case of self defense.

With that I agree. Cops still need to operate and quell a violent uprising not of their making. It is only of their making where I would find her action justified and commendable. 16? Old enough to bleed, old enough to get bread… Old enough to suffer adult consequences.

There’s reasons why some juvie murders and the like end up trialed as adults, if you want to make adult type decisions you should be ready to deal with the fall out. However to say there’s some large scale fractures going on in that school is speaking in to the howling wind. I would wonder if the school district encompasses some gangs or tribes if you will that don’t get along yet they are all forced in the same building. Honestly getting away from anywhere large just sounds better and better when people behave like this.

The body slam put her out of a fight she never should have joined in to… The cop did exactly the right move, any other action (like just pushing her away) and she would have attacked again.

FAFO, and enjoy your felony assault on a peace office charge girlie.

I have no problem with what they did in this case or others like this. I’ve seen numerous videos where an officer will give someone 15 chances to get out of the car, comply in some other way, etc. and then tase the person for not doing so. It’s kind of like that incident in AL the other day where they tased a band director for not complying. They made the same request of the other band director that night. He complied and lo and behold, he did NOT get tased. Again, no problem with those actions.

But one thing is not like the other, is it?

“For that reason, the officer was entirely within the bounds of being reasonable when he threw her to the ground. This is a clear case of self defense.”

From the perspective that had that been you or I and she was going for our weapon, we’d be justified in doing the same, I agree.

Agreed. FAFO Chronicles #345,865.
Now shooting a golden retriever when serving a warrant on a peaceful homeowner? Hang the SOB.

One of the biggest quandary’s I had was a couple of years ago during the height of the blm/antifa riots. Who do I root for? Idiot protestors or bully cops?

In the situation above, the cop reacted same as anyone would/should when attacked; neutralize the problem. Play stupid games, win stupid prize.

If you want to play with the big dogs, you can’t pee like a puppy.

Broken shoulder? Boo frickin’ hoo. She’s lucky she wasn’t shot.
And she damned well better get prosecuted for battery on a peace officer, among other crimes.
She can finish high school from inside the county jail.

The gripe isn’t against cops doing their jobs, which this incident was.
It’s when they obviously aren’t doing their job they earn justified ire.
If they’d content themselves with simply operating inside the law, and stay within the bounds of that reservation, they’d hear not a peep from you, me, nor thousands of others.

Reading some of the comments on twitter set my teeth on edge. ” Oh, she shouldn’t have done it but maybe the cop responded too harshly”. You fight a cop, your getting your ass beat just like any other person. If you expect to be given the privileges of a child then stay on the curb.
