I’ve read all of the angst about the guy in Utah that got smoked when the FBI paid him a visit. I’ve listened to those who claim this is a sign that its time to go dark. That it’s a sign that the Feds are picking on him.

It isn’t any of those things.

The guy has been issuing rather explicit death threats against specific politicians for years. Posting pictures of himself in a ghillie suit holding a rifle. He’s had multiple previous visits from the Feds. With all of that, he kept doing it. It’s always been illegal to issue death threats. This isn’t a sign of targeted assassination. It’s an armed dumbass who didn’t know when to keep his bloviating mouth shut. There is a line, and he crossed it.

If you want to off a politico, then keep your mouth shut and just do it. If you want to run your mouth, then know that there are things you can’t do, and threatening to kill people is one of them. When you ignore that advice, expect to be the target of some FBI investigations, and when they DO come over, it’s a bad idea to point guns at them. That’s been true since forever.

The voice of reason again.

But … How long until they start linking this nutjob to every MAGA type? Never let an emergency go to waste and all that.

MAGA type. I always get a kick out of their intense hatred of “MAGA”. An acronym for Make America Great Again, to which they retort that it was never great. Their attitude is so, so telling.

I don’t think it’s the ‘again’ part that they object to; they really hate our country. I just can’t figure out what they think their future should look like – seems like they want hell on earth to me.

Not necessarily (death threats). TMK, its only illegal to make death threats against government.

In TX, you can take out a protective order or restraining order. I’ve tried for years to get legislature to change law to allow lethal protection against death threats – how many women would still be here or busineeses if they’d had the legal right to defend themselves against death threats??

The ONLY reply to “if I can’t have you, no one can” should be BANG!! Or “I’m going to kill you” BANG!! Or “you gave a nice business, it’d be a shame if it burned down”. BANG!!

Not disagreeing, but just how many of the fascists making death threats have even been investigated, much less raided, not to mention killed?
But you are correct, if that’s what you want to do, shut your mouth and do it.

This guy literally punched his own ticket. It is not a sign that any movement is necessary in response. This wasnt some guy whose rights were violated and has the moral high ground. If you FA with death threats to elected officials, you best expect to FO. This guy was a dumbass. That it is or could be politized is no surprise, it happens every time.

A 75 year old 5′-4″ 300 pound man that can’t get out of a chair without a cane is not a viable threat. That was seen in April the last them they saw him. This was either a. The FBI just doing it’s typical incompetent overreaction of reaching for the biggest hammer they have or b. Sending a message. This was basically a mini Waco in my opinion.

So a 75 year old man in a wheelchair can’t point a gun at cops?
    – Looking at his social media, did he threaten to kill the president? Yep.
    – Has the FBI visited him in the past? Yep.
    – Did he threaten to kill the agents if they returned? Yep.
So was a raid by armed agents reasonable? IMO, it was.
Absent any other evidence that he didn’t do anything, I can’t find any fault here with the decision to do a raid.
I also don’t see what message they would be sending. Don’t threaten to kill the President?
I just can’t make a martyr out of this idiot.

I left a comment on the more recent post about this. But you don’t back an animal into it’s nest when you could capture it when it goes out for food. They could have done it quietly with a small team when he was away from the house. They used a sledge hammer because they could.

        1) Wrong. When you have the target confined to his own home, you place no crowds of bystanders at risk, unlike if he flips out in the parking lot at WalMart, or on the interstate.

        2) “They used a sledgehammer because they could.
        Yes, and?
That’s how they roll, since ever.
If anyone is going to wait until they’re stacking up on the porch to do something, they’re doing it wrong.
There are lessons on top of lessons there.

        3) Learn the difference – grammatical, as well as legal – between hypothesizing, incitement, and bald-faced openly threatening.
One of these is protected free speech.
The other two result in harsh penalties.
        Know. The. Difference.

        4) Final Answer: Play Stupid Games, Win Stupid Prizes
        Darwin Award entry validated.
My only surprise about this is that he’s not blood kin to the Bundy @$$clowns.
But he was definitely a brother-from-another-mother.
