The Ocoee Police Department said the crime describes suspects who sit in bank parking lots and watch customers enter and leave the building. The suspects then follow the customers to their next destination and look for an opportunity to burglarize their vehicle or rob them.

If you leave apple cores on a vacant lot and sit in a blind, waiting for deer to come along to eat the apples, it’s known as “hunting over a baited field” and is illegal. I’m wondering if you couldn’t leave the bank with a stack of $100 bills, then lead these robbers to an area where there is an ambush team lying in wait. Robberies would come to a halt, but I’m betting the cops would take a dim view of this.

The CPUSA branch of the Uniparty wants your guns so that these undocumented reparations result in redistribution.
Any bank that lets people case the parking lot is one that you don’t need.

Government is a catch-and-release wildlife conservation program for criminals. Government farms criminals to make work for itself. Soon, the cheapness of small robotics will mean government organized criminals themselves will be targeted. This will snowball as enforcement shrinks and liberty grows until there is about zero crime. Then will come a great hue and cry from the 90% of Americans whose politics is envy, to demand there be a government to hurt people they don’t know but hate. But snowballing will continue because no one wants to be the only chump paying protection money. Then we will see how much mental illness there will be when Americans actually have liberty and justice for all.

“…I’m betting the cops would take a dim view of this.”

Once they learn about it, sure.

There is nothing in the rule book that requires notifying the police of any such activity, before, during, or after the fact.
Coupla thugs turn up shot to doll rags, the po-po ain’t gonna bust a gut looking for Who Dunnit.
Follow-on robberies and burglaries drop to nil? Boo hoo.

FTR: What you’ve described is exactly how LAPD’s S.I.S. operates to this very day, and they’ve achieved drastic reductions in armed robberies, including a 0% recidivism rate. They wait, follow suspected armed robbers, and when they take the bait, they essentially execute them in the act.

Kurtz orders assassination of four suspected VC agents. Enemy activity in his old sector dropped off to nothing. Guess he must’ve hit the right four people.” – Capt. Willard

There’s nothing wrong with shooting. As long as the right people get shot.” – Inspector Calahan

I could easily see entrapment of shitheads like this becoming a thing, especially as society devolves and policing falls off even further in effectiveness. Besides, if the operation is properly planned and well executed, the only indication something happened would be a drop in crime rates, and a number of people simply disappearing with no apparent explanation.

Hard to make a case with no bodies and no solid leads. Since cops no longer really want to work, they just want the benefits of holding the job, as time goes on it is likely to get easier to pull off-the-books cleanup operations. One can hope, anyway.

I’m betting the cops would take a dim view of this.

Only if they find the bodies. No bodies, no crime.

I’m betting that some cops would be on the ambush teams.

And the bodies would not be found.

Local business would be making substantial charitable donations to the local Police Support Organizations, whatever they might be named.

What was old can be new again. – with slightly different names.

If the cops were worth a damn they’d be doing it themselves.

I didn’t. What book is that?

I really wish I owned an excavator. And about 70 acres of mildly wooded land. I could be a big help in operations like this.

Here in WY, the deserts are replete with backhoe-dug holes, cracks and holes in the ground, and disused mines.

I knew to brothers years ago that, in Florida, used to drive a car with Michigan plates into low rent neighborhoods. They threw a couple of maps on the dash and they would stop by a crowd of ferals and, with an arm with a Rolex strapped to it hanging out the window, ask for directions. Both of these men armed to the teeth and just HOPING! that someone would try to jack them. Two quotes from them: “you’re going to read about us some day” and “I lull myself to sleep with thoughts of home invasion”
