Read this story about the Colorado gay nightclub shooter. What jumps out at me is that the article uses everyone’s preferred pronouns. It makes for a very hard read because it sounds like more than one person did the shooting.
Appearing in person at court Tuesday morning for the first time since being arrested, Aldrich, 22, sat alongside their public defender as the state prosecution presented their case…
Aldrich, who identifies as non-binary, allegedly opened fire at Club Q in Colorado Springs on the night of Nov. 19. They continued shooting for six minutes, at which point they were tackled and beaten by patrons.
emphasis added
Since, in this case, ‘they’ refers to a single person and is not the plural pronoun, the last sentence should read: “They continued shooting for six minutes, at which point they was tackled and beaten by patrons.” Or perhaps we can revert to the rules of the English language and use the proper ‘he’ instead of ‘they’.
The English language is dead.

RE: predferred pronouns…..why do WE put up with this crap? They, their, them, it, multiples of he/him/his/cis/ xzi, whatever, etc.
It’s all bullshit. You want to live in Fantasy World, go for it but I’m not moving in with you.

Saying, “… they was tackled and beaten by patrons” kinda makes me queasy but so does the whole, “I’m so special I deserve my own pronouns” movement. At least words like xim and xer are made up and we don’t have to break the English language to use them.
Babylon Bee did a YouTube video on this called, “They’s on First.”
The only thing worse is the jokes that are showing up everywhere, like “their pronouns will be ‘was’ and ‘were'” Gack! Those aren’t pronouns!

Words have meaning.
“They” figured that out.
Many have not, and continue to take a knee to “Them”

Just imagine that a competent shooter could have ended it with a single well-placed projectile. Which would have been amazing: taking “them all” out with one shot. Kind of like stunt shooting or something. 🙂
