A big, fat F U to not only the Norwalk police, but to the public works department after they had a man arrested for plowing the driveways of everyone on his block. Apparently some of the snow wound up on the street, which pissed off the public works guy, who called the police.

The cops arrived and arrested the guy.

Public servants, my ass.

It IS illegal to push snow on the road. And for good reason. I plow snow and sometimes you have no choice but to do it, I always ensure that the area I do it in is cleaner than when the city went through so they can’t come after us. The fly by night cheapasses make a godawful mess and one time almost put me into a ditch because he left a snow boulder the size of a riding mower in a busy street, in the middle of a morning on a blind curve.

It’s entirely legal for the town to push snow from the street into your driveway, but it’s illegal for you to give it back? How interesting!

Regardless of his altruistic motives, he still can’t block streets with plowed snow. He must keep roadways open.

Sounds like he got belligerent while on his high road too. Public works likely had a hand in that escalation.

Now go after all of the landscrapers who blow all of their grass clippings on the roadway. That’s illegal too.

Any “motorcycle enthusiast” really hates road hazards created by selfish, lazy imbeciles. They have the potential to cause serious injury or death to us. Ride safe!

Wasn’t it YOUR choice to buy an inherently unsafe vehicle? Motorcycle riders cause their own share of unsafe hazards on the road: riding between lanes, swerving wildly through traffic, etc

FINALLY, someone else that sees reality for what it is. I’ve been arguing this for years. If a rider goes down on debris, it’s a consequence of their decision to ride an unsafe vehicle.

So should everyone be forced into an ultra safe “pod” vehicle? No lifted 4 wheel drives, no 200mph capable muscle cars, no small sports cars, etc? In 50 years of street riding a motorcycle, and well over one million miles, I have had 2 wrecks, both caused by a car. In contrast I have had 7 car wrecks, 1 of which was my fault.

The problem with motorcycles, and cars, is too many people think they are a better rider/driver than they actually are. They get into a situation that is beyond their capability’s and wreck. You can see examples of this in any commute longer than the length of your driveway.

Forced? No. But i have seen quite a few accidents. The motorcycle rider always loses, and riding in an unsafe vehicle doesn’t create any special obligation on others.

As a volunteer fireman for over a decade I’ve been to my fair share of motorcycle crashes also. Yes, 99.9% of the time the motorcyclist loses.

Life is a risk. Some folks bungee jump, some skydive, others ride a motorcycle. As a rider I don’t look for any special consideration, just common decency and common sense. But being as I regularly see drivers pull out in front semi trucks, change lanes without looking and tailgating, I don’t expect either. What some might perceive as a “dick move” on my part, is self preservation. The reason I ride so you can see me in your side view mirror is a hope that you will take your eyes off your phone long enough to see me. The reason I accelerate hard from a stop, after filtering to the front of the line, is so maybe you won’t run me over from behind because you “didn’t see” me.

Yes there are dicks on motorcycles. I would say there are an equal or perhaps greater number driving cars/trucks.

April 5 court date for a summons? So much for a quick and efficient trial date.

Rob, it never said he blocked the street, just pushes snow into it.

FWP I agree with you, if you can push it into my driveway …

I’ve got photographs of my neighbors spending hours digging a snowplow out of getting stuck in our cul-de-sac, after clearing 1/10th of it.

He promptly left and we didn’t see our roadway plowed until after the next snowfall.

Years back the county asshole used to plow 4 to 5 ft high drifts across seniors driveways. Then come back after work and offer to remove them for $50. He used to do it to his own grandmother.

County got pissed at a couple of us for removing the snow, even if we added it to the piles they placed on empty lots. Said he was using his personal bobcat on his own time they wouldnt do anything.

One weekend the asshole went away and left his personal bobcat in his garage. Someone(s) piled snow to his garage roof and filled his driveway and someone else used the fire truck to water it down between layers.
He used a county excavater to remove the snow but the video got to the reeve who suspended him and moved him to a different village. Next summer he moved away and not even his grandmother mourned his departure.
