I typed the Orlando nightclub shooter’s name into the state license database, and it turns out that the “firearms license” that the press is talking about him having is not a CWP. It is an armed security guard license, called a “Statewide Firearms License” His license number is G 2704169.

A statewide firearms license is for armed security guards. He worked for a company called G4S, which was formerly known as Wackenhut Security.

That link you posted to the Dept Ag only returns professional licenses, not individuals. At least, my wife and I aren't in there. FWIW, I was listening to Sean Hannity out in the shop and he's still reporting the guy had both licenses, the personal CWFL and the G license.

If guys like him are the bulk of G4S' workers, we are so hosed…

There is no way to know for sure if he had a CWP, unless that has been given out by police, and I have not seen that. I think many people are confusing the two licenses.
