This is one of the reasons why renting houses has become so expensive. The risk of owning rentals has to be priced into the system.

I cannot understand how and why this happens. If it won’t work for a hotel room, why should it work for a vacation rental? The only answer I can come up with is the police are prevented by the courts from acting in the latter but encouraged to evict in the former. Let’s defund the courts!

We have an entire cultural mythology of the evil city bankers taking homes and farms from poor working people, turning little old ladies out in the street, leaving kids and families homeless. I think this originated during the great depression, but maybe even further back. Hollywood hasn’t help, as a large portion of older movies focus on the poor underdog winning against the evil bankers and land barons (think about all the western movies with this theme). As a society, we’ve gradually turn the laws around in favor of the tenant and against the owner until we get to the point we’re at now.

In a sane world, you could just shoot them.

I see a business opportunity for a “specialized eviction service.”

If the cost you’re factoring in is higher than the price of a decent Brute Squad, a hit man, and an arsonist, I think you’re doing it wrong. YMMV.
“What happened to the last tenants?”
“They died in a tragic fire. Then the owner took the insurance and rebuilt.”
Targeted violence has solved more problems than all the math classes in the world since the time of Hammurabi.

Some Air BNB or laugh out loud pricing vacancies locally as the BlackRock we want to buy your place form letters come bimonthly.
I thought one was vacant but a guy uses it as a backup mancave with just a computer room on the weekend complete with lights and extra big ass teevee!
Probably about five open that I can spot across various subdivision sectors ranging from McMansion to trailer park.
All noted during Area Study heel and toe after meals.
