Florida Republicans are proposing a law that would not permit local and county officials to investigate complaints against police. Instead, the state investigators would do so.

At first blush, it sounds like a great idea- one that is intended to prevent cops from investigating themselves and finding no wrongdoing. There is one key problem, however. Buried in the last line of the story:

Also, the bill would bar ordinances or rules about civilian oversight of law-enforcement agencies in investigating misconduct complaints.

This law would ensure that the government is the only one with the power to decide if it overstepped its bounds. Another layer of bureaucrats that would take away the rights of citizens. No thanks, Republican holster sniffers.

Once again comes a sneaky and deceitful effort by the system to protect itself/it’s own. No surprise at all, even coming from a republican’t controlled body. These slimy bastards always seek to remove accountability from government actors, and grow the bureaucracy, irrespective of their purported party affiliation.

There’s actually a damn good reason for that line. It’s called COPA and it’s Chicago’s version of civilian oversight. But what it does is push leftist ideals onto the cops and make it impossible for them to do their jobs. This is learning from IL’s mistakes and preempting them.

I still have lost more money and had more negative interactions with police than I’ve had with criminals.

I’m not disputing that, but COPA has made it worse. I’m close enough that I listen to Chicago talk radio, what you guys out there hear is nothing compared to what’s reported closer. I also follow Second City Cop, an anonymous cop from Chicago that tells it like it is and has inside sources.

If citizen oversight keeps a cop from doing his job, maybe he needs to rethink how he does it or find a job where he is not living off the taxpayer’s brow. Cops serve to protect the criminals, in and out of government. They do not protect the citizens.

You misunderstand me. COPA has enacted all the leftwing soft on crime shit the DNC wants. They have basically a zero pursuit policy. They play favorites real bad too. Decent cops get punished for minor infractions, connected cops get promotions for screwing the pooch. I’m all for reining in PDs, but COPA and their Dem masters has made Chicago into a warzone.

So on one hand we have Democrats who want all police banned, on the other hand we have Republicans who think all police are the good guys always. And I’m supposed to pick one or the other?

How about all y’all take a flying leap at a rolling donut. The way things are going, we will be back to 1880 in my lifetime.

Who will investigate the investigators?
