Samsung (and presumably other brands) has installed a kill switch on their televisions that allows them to shut down the device remotely.

The claim is that it is there to deter theft, but how long before there are subscription fees? Or social credit scores?

I have a 10 yr old 42in Sony TV that can’t connect to the internet & has an over air antenna. Nobody has any control over my tv except me & my wife. Mostly my wife.

Good. Much like the airlines, the hospitals and so many other coporate entities that have gone bad. Let these tossers commit more own goals. Hopefully they run themselves right out of business with even more stupid assery.

I do have to chuckle though at the prospect of looters having their ill gotten big screens remotely bricked by big brother.
