The Utica, NY police department was having a gun buyback. A man identifying himself as “Kern” says he brought them 110 firearms that he 3D printed at his home, for which they paid him $21,000 in gift cards.

“I’m sure handing over $21,000 in gift cards to some punk kid after getting a bunch of plastic junk was a rousing success,” Kem said. “Gun buybacks are a fantastic way of showing, number one, that your policies don’t work, and, number 2, you’re creating perverse demand. You’re causing people to show up to these events, and, they don’t actually reduce crime whatsoever.”

So what you are saying is that anyone with a 3D printer can host an Adriana fundraiser?

And oh, they are salty over this one. They look like fools, and worse, they’re fools who got taken for a ride.

Well played, Kem. Well played.

That dude is a genius…and if enough people game the events like he did, maybe it will make these libtards think twice before wasting taxpayer $ on shit like buybacks…

Kern said he paid $200 for his printer. Filament goes for about $25/spool. Figure another $200 for that. That’s a lot of profit.

I’d say, “why didn’t we think of that?” but thankfully Florida officials (except for Dade county buying guns back “to ship to Ukraine”) aren’t as stupid as the NY officials. I’ve never seen a gun buyback around central Florida.

They do one every year all over Central Florida. They offer $50 gift cards in exchange for guns. I have always wanted to either sit out front and make my own offers, or sit out front and offer to tell people what they could get if they took their guns to a gun store and sold them. In a lot of cases, $50 is probably a ripoff.
For 2022, the Volusia County one brought in a whopping 22 firearms, with 2 of them found to be stolen and returned to the rightful owners.

Anyhow, here is this year’s story about it:

I’ve seen articles where private buyers did just that. Offering more in cash than the gift card for decent guns. And the buyer still got a deal. All legal.

It might be legal, but that won’t stop a pissed off cop from finding a reason to arrest you. That’s one reason why I haven’t tried it.
