That very place of the standoff has a very peculiar feature. Imagine a highway through a long stretch of desert. No turnouts or intersections, no side roads, no shops, no filling stations, no restaurants or hotels, not even a rest stop.
Then there is a single turnout. It is well developed, a lot of money went into building it. But as soon as it turns away from the highway, it stops. As if a road will be built sometime in the future. But for now, no infrastructure of any kind. No signs of habitation.
That is the I-15 through that part of Nevada. Why is that multimillion dollar off and on ramp (for both northbound and southbound) doing there? Just how was it a good idea to build that off ramp there? It is the only one for tens of miles to the north, and five times that number to the south.
Harry Read and the Chinese had long been bandied about as the reason. Now BLM had tried to force a 4th generation rancher off the land. After all, his few neighbors had sold out. Sold to multiple dummy real estate companies all tied to Read.
Strange how after decades upon decades of running cattle, all of a sudden his herd is blamed for endangering non-existing desert tortoise. That was the allegation that sparked the whole debacle. BLM employees had lied saying they had found the tortoise there, also had placed the tortoise on the Bundy ranch.
My heart leapt in joy in how the standoff ended. I was proud of my fellow Americans. They were ‘this close’ to a firestorm because the fedgov continued to press. Not shown in the videos is how BLM and others were yelling taunts and engaging in psychological warfare.
Quite a number of those who opposed government forces had only just returned from the sand box. They had the very same weaponry at the spooks. We heard them talking about ‘long guns’. Those were the high powered zeroed in sniper and battle rifles the same which the gov spooks, plus other. They were well paced, covered, on high ground and behind bridge columns and dirt mounds surrounding the spooks on three quarters of the field of fire.
It was when fedgov and others finally realized that they were outgunned, did they finally disband. There was no overt call from the Bundy supporters intended to threaten the gov.

Also, FBI HRT teams were there. Plus SWAT and all else. The fed s were scoping people everywhere. The Bundy side was looking through binos at feds scoping them. Then several well concealed shooters stood up to reveal themselves to the feds. That was around the time the feds decided to withdraw. It is particularly unnerving to realize you have multiple shooters aiming at you that you hadn’t known were there except that they revealed themselves. I doubt any of the feds were not at the center of someone’s reticle. And they realized that.

So true and the difference was the Bundys and those helping them were willing to die for their beliefs, the cowardly Feds there collecting a paycheck were NOT.

To me, the only reason the govt, backed down and pulled out, is because some person in charge evaluated all that was explained above and had the brains to know they would lose. Now put some arrogant govt, drone in charge and they would have pushed until it all blew up.

I’m positive the “despite court orders” rationalization cited in the video really means unelected bureaucratic orders. Now that Chevron Deference is dead true court orders are more relevant.

I followed that Incident very closely as it progressed. One thing that kept happening was that each Time the fedpigs tried to “Establish a Perimeter” or put up another Roadblock, they would find Armed Citizens gathering behind them. Eventually, it was the local Sherriff, who hadn’t been involved with the fedscum in the first place, told the feds that He ‘wouldn’t be able to assure the Safety’ of the feds, if the People decided to do something. He basically negotiated a “Withdrawal under Guns” for them.
Another article, some Time afterwards, in a Las Vegas paper, had the LV Metro chief of Piggies crying about how as he and his thugpigs drove back to the City, they were NEVER out of sight of Armed Citizens parked by the side of the Highway. For more than a Hundred Miles. He admitted that they Never would have made it back Alive if the Shooting started.
Nobody (even the fedscum) ever had a good idea of how many Patriots showed up in Nevada, and/or were In Transit to the Ranch. It’s that kind of Ant-Swarming Attack that the ‘government’ is powerless to counter.

Now if only those patriotic citizens could vote for politicians who weren’t as enthusiastic for squishing liberty. But I think these patriots would rather die in a fight than give up their religious faith there can be a government that respects civil rights.

I wonder if the bundies ever had to pay their grazing fees, in the millions, IIRC, like all the other honest ranchers in the western United States pay who utilize blm land. I would like to keep the money as well.
