The young adults of today have no concept of how things were before they were born. It’s like they are completely ignorant of history:
I remember a jingle for car loans from the early 80’s, and people were crowing about interest rates being “down” to “only 9.9%” In fact, the Fed set the overnight rate at 17% in May of 1981. The result of this was that auto loans were going for an average of 18%, and that was for someone with good credit. At the end of 1982, auto loan rates were still around 11% for good credit. The average rate now is right around 6%.
She complains that an average house that cost $73,700 would today be worth $230,000. That is because she is using the government inflation figures. Let’s instead use gold as a benchmark. In 1982, that $74,000 house would have sold for 167 ounces of gold. That same 167 ounces would buy you a $347,000 house.
She then goes on to claim that college graduates were getting $33,000 right out of college. She is mistaken. The average college graduate in 1981 received a starting salary of $15,200 a year. Using gold as our metric, that is equal to 34 ounces of gold, meaning that the house in 1981 would cost 4.9 years’ pay. Today, that 34 ounces is worth $66,000 a year.
She is just wrong. Every generation feels like they had it worse than the ones who came before. I’m sure the people who lived through the rationing of WW2, the Yellow fever and polio pandemics of the early 20th century, and the Great Depression would beg to differ.

AMA and BMI
I wrote a paper that discussed why body mass index wasn’t an accurate measurement of anything.
To get an idea of why I feel this way, let’s use some professional athletes to illustrate why BMI is not an accurate measurement of obesity:
This is a link to the roster of the Tampa Bay Lightning, a professional hockey team made up of athletes from all over the world, most of whom are also on their country’s respective Olympic teams. They are provided, as part of the team, with a full time nutritionist, the best medical care available, and they each work out 6-8 hours a day, every day. In other words, they are in the 99.9th percentile of health and fitness. According to Body Mass Index, every one of them has a BMI higher than 25, meaning that all of them are overweight.
In science, if you can prove that a hypothesis isn’t always correct, then it must be rewritten or discarded. BMI isn’t correct.
Now the American Medical Association now agrees that BMI isn’t accurate. Not because of its inherent issues, but now because they claim it is racist.

Of course Joe Biden is not a wannabe dictator. Just because he’s trying to put the other candidate in prison for the rest of his life for a crime he himself committed doesn’t mean he has a totalitarian impulse- come on that’s absurd.
It takes a lot more than jailing your political rivals to earn the title “wannabe dictator”- that’s the consensus in Washington tonight- and in some ways for once the consensus may be right. It is not a small thing to be a wannabe dictator. It’s quite a process, there are a lot of steps.
First off there is the money – the one thing that all dictators have in common is they enrich themselves and their families – their tribe – even as the country they govern grows steadily poorer and more desperate. They take kickbacks from businesses and from other dictators, they use the official functions of their government to funnel cash to themselves, they don’t bother to hide the fruits of this, they live in garish mansions with big lawns, far from the teeming cities, even as their own citizens languish in growing poverty, in some cases literally living in tents on the street.
So they don’t really hide it – it’s all pretty blatant and ordinary people resent it, of course they do, and wannabe dictators know they resent it, but they don’t care. There’s nothing the population can do about it in a dictatorship- it’s no longer possible to fight injustice in a system like that.
People can’t gather in large numbers to protest the rule of the dictator.
If they try that, they’ll be arrested by a state security services, even years after the fact a visit from men in body armor at the breakfast table- that happens. And if citizens persist in believing they can gather in groups to protest they may be shot to death a bullet to the throat. And then, just to make the humiliation complete, to make the lesson gin clear to everyone else watching, their relatives can be arrested for daring to complain that their children were killed for complaining.
That actually happens in some places- ask Ashli Babbitt’s mother. Here she is in handcuffs. ‘So don’t be like Ashli Babbitt’s mother, much less like poor Ashley Babbitt, she’s dead now,’ that’s the message a wannabe dictator would send- and by the way it’s not just public protest that would be banned in a dictatorship, you wouldn’t be allowed to complain from your own home.
Unauthorized opinions expressed on the internet would be censored. Go too far, press too deep, tell too much truth, and they’ll just erase your opinions. They have no choice, really, it’s a matter as they say, of trust and safety, you must trust the leader, or else you will jeopardize his safety, not that you really CAN jeopardize his safety at this point, the leader has nuclear weapons, and you don’t- he’ll remind you of that from time to time.

Here They Come
Seeing as how I was the subject of recent leftist threats and attempts to shut me up, I can understand how the owner of Fenix Ammunition feels in this case:
We are edging closer and closer to the conflict in this country going from threats, posturing, and a few minor skirmishes to the actual initiation of hostilities. So far, the violence has mostly been one sided. I fear that it may not remain so. The coming conflict will be truly horrific.
In this case, morons are picking a fight with a guy who owns a pile of guns and a literal ammunition factory, which he opened because it was cheaper to make his own ammo to compete in marksmanship competitions. He regularly posts videos of himself shooting all sorts of NFA weapons at ranges of several hundred yards.

For those that have had problems registering on this site: It was my error in the way that I set up the SMTP server. I sent emails to everyone that has tried to register so far. If you didn’t get one, please comment here and let me know.
That should fix the registration issue, but I am continuing to work on it. Sorry if there are still speedbumps. When I had to fire my old IT guy, I have had to learn all of this on my own. Everything from running the blog to the email system and the server is new to me.
On top of that, I started my new job and have been spending my days in training to learn everything from new medical charting software to new equipment and all of the typical HR stuff. So, I’m busy.

No, not that one. I’m not talking about the 80’s band. I’m talking about how Hunter Biden has “reached an agreement” with the DOJ. In exchange for pleading guilty to two minor misdemeanor tax charges, all of the investigations against him will be dismissed and/or closed, including the felony gun charges.
An “in-your-face” show of contempt for the rule of law, Biden regime gives sweetheart plea deal to Hunter Biden. Avoids prosecutions tied to foreign bribery and the President. This is why Joe was laughing when reporters asked him about it.
It’s good to be a part of the Emperor’s family. How is the ATF going to treat anyone caught with a pistol brace? Meanwhile, the Bidens use bribe money to buy guns, crack, and hookers ON VIDEO, and they get a small fine.
