Even in leftist Hawaii, families are opting out of the public school system in large numbers. The left doesn’t care how many people they piss off.
This reminds me of my confusion from the weeks leading up to the 2020 election. I couldn’t understand why the Biden campaign wasn’t running the race. It never occurred to me that the race was over because they had taken a shortcut.
The left doesn’t care who they piss off, because they know that they have already won.

If 100% of the people decided to home school and get their kids out of the public schools that would be resounding victory for the teachers’ unions. Unless those contracts get cancelled or everyone gets fired, they face zero work at full pay.
Isn’t that why they want to do online classes. No need to be around all those children but still get paid?

At some point the teachers union will start agitating for more controls and certifications on homeschoolers. They just haven’t reached that tip-over point yet. It’s about control, NOT about what’s best for the children.
