This is the dumb shit that prompted this morning’s post:

I suspect the ONLY reason this story has the legs it has, is because of WHO the shooter is. If it had been Billy Bob from down the street, little to nothing would have been heard about it.

Was it a “good” shoot? Only 3 people know; The deceased, his co-worker and the shooter. The rest is just speculation at this point. Will we ever know all the details? Doubtful given the “who’s” and the current state of tension in the world.

    ModernDayJeremiah · May 27, 2024 at 7:43 pm

Shooter’s wife and kids know too.

“Lord Dundee” is a moron. Probably has some patriotic fantasy in his head about Jack Reacher having a barbecue with his family when he suddenly notices a gang of Chechen rebels sneaking through the woods on their way to take down the whitehouse. No time to alert the authorities, but just enough time to save the world…

Jonesy · May 27, 2024 at 10:50 pm

I read most of the comments on the previous thread. Lots of speculation, not many facts…supporting any proposed theory. This will either get cleared up with a proper explanation, or it will quietly fade away (suspicious), or there will be some explanation that won’t satisfy anyone (also suspicious). More time is needed.

Blacks kill several whites per day just for fun, more than 10,000 illegals invade our nation every day, and this is what we should be upset about? One Muslim terrorist who got smoke checked?

Wake me up when the government is purging White, Christian Americans. Oh, wait, they already started doing that several years ago.

    ModernDayJeremiah · May 28, 2024 at 9:42 am

Homicide rate IS much higher for blacks. Most of the homicides are blacks killing other blacks.

There are two main takes here:

A) the photo guys were related to some ongoing or previous Delta mission

B) Delta has at least one guy who has some screws loose. Which indicates a failure cascade up the command chain.

    Divemedic · May 28, 2024 at 9:11 am

    Or C:
Delta, having significantly less knowledge of the law (especially as it relates to self defense) than the readers of this blog (or any gun blog, for that matter), thinks that it’s OK to smoke someone because they are on your land with a camera.

      Or D

He did what he felt he needed to do, consequences be damned.

        Divemedic · May 28, 2024 at 1:52 pm

Cool. Now explain for the class how this is any different than one gang banger smoking another.
And why he shouldn’t spend the rest of his life in prison.

Digging a bit….the majority of articles on this shooting are at least 4 days old. I found this article posted yesterday at red state:

https://redstate.com/jenvanlaar/2024/05/27/new-info-related-to-shooting-death-of-chechen-national-who-was-on-army-special-forces-soldiers-property-n2174705

Unfortunately, it raises more questions and offers zero answers.

All questions aside, there is the central issue of the legality of the shooting. DM, you are laser focused on this, clearly. And that is under investigation by the sheriff.
But I have to say the circumstances around the shooting don’t pass the sniff test. The event occurred after dark, location (250 yds into private property), no ID, uniform, or gear suggesting he was working in any official capacity, and the camera gear. The article alleges it was the 3rd or 4th visit by these 2 Chechens to property as recorded by the shooters cameras. Also mentioned the utility company these guys allegedly work for has a foreign registration out of New Jersey.

If there is a simple explanation for all this, it is not readily apparent.

    Aesop · May 29, 2024 at 2:23 pm

Let’s grant this was a repeat visit.
    1) So what?
    2) Why smoke one on the 3rd or 4th time??
    3) Still no justification noted for anyone capping anyone. Period. Full stop.
    4) The guy’s back yard isn’t Area 51. Carte blanche use of deadly force is not authorized. Ever.
    5) Therefore, the only thing that unequivocally doesn’t pass the sniff test is the shooting itself.
    6) Frankly, if this was justified in any way, the Three S’s should have applied.
    7) The idea that shooting the guy was the rational and reasonable response therefore drops to a percentage of single digits, without a gargantuanly unlikely (but not impossible) tale of extenuating circumstances, which is thus far wholly absent. Maybe it exists, and he’s simply following the wise maxim about “Never talk to cops”. I’m willing to hear it out when it happens. But it’s so far from likelihood at this point that a murder indictment – or two* – and requisite trials is just about a certainty, if only to elicit it.
    8) The exposition is going to be a screenplay someday, or else another murder trial like the whackjob cop chick in Texas who walked into her upstairs neighbor’s apartment, deliberately blew him away, and then made up a fairytale about how she was confused.
She is now doing 10 years in the TX state pen for murder, when her toddler-level “explanations” fell apart in about a minute.
    9) This story isn’t going away.

*(The glory of military service is that you can be indicted by both the civil justice system and the military justice system for the same crime, found guilty and punished by both, all without violating in any way the 5th Amendment to the Constitution. Also, the process is the punishment. Col. Fuckdup, I repeat, is about to be shat upon from a great height. Twice. Even if he’s innocent. His career is over, and life as he knew it is ruined. To a 99% certainty. The only question now is where he gets to sleep for the rest of his life: his own bed, or a cell. My money is on a cell, but I’m open to other chances when more information comes out.)

    Divemedic · May 29, 2024 at 2:41 pm

I don’t understand how the state where his employer is registered has anything to do with the shooting.
1 Did the Colonel know that when he pulled the trigger?
2 Even so, when did being employed by a NJ company serve as justification for a shooting?

Deep · May 28, 2024 at 12:45 pm

Redstate.com has an article up that seems to indicate that this isn’t some innocent getting smoked but that the Deceased was doing surveillance over multiple days and was acting weird. Not in work clothes, no i.d. and got aggressive when confronted. We need to get the whole story.
