Out of Spec

So I decided to continue working on my Skirmish rifle this morning. I completed the machining of the lower that I got from 5d, washed it, dried it, and began to put the parts into the lower. The first step was the magazine catch, and…

It doesn’t fit. The slot in the lower is too small for the catch to fit. I tried a second catch, and that one doesn’t fit, either. So I am assuming that the slot that 5d cut for the magazine catch is out of spec. I emailed them, and we will see what they say.

In other news, here is the parts list so far for this lower:

That brings the cost (so far) for this lower to $691, with nearly half of that ($270) being the trigger and buffer. I want to have this rifle done by the end of September, so I am still on schedule.

DISCLAIMER: I have no relationship with any of the vendors or manufacturers mentioned in this post, other than me being a customer. The prices paid and any discounts I received were those available to the general public.

Get a H3 buffer and a geiselle buffer spring.
You’ll be better served in the long run.
I assume this is a 556, 16”.
Every AR is overgassed, some way to much.
This will increase your dwell time, smoothe out recoil and not Hammer on the Gun.

It dont matter its the internet

Sorry to return….

Larue Tactical -Get the MBT trigger.
Its a geiselle for alot less ! Seriously, check it out.
I have…well you wouldnt believe me.

Sorry to bang post like this

To say that I hate the standard AR pistol grip is an understatement. But I like these & have more than a few of them.

This was a new one for me but i have it on a .308 & I’m really liking it so far.

Unless you absolutely insist on a drop in trigger here’s another plug for the Larue MBT on your next build, it’s phenomenal & less than half of the Geiselle cost.

I have the blueprints/build package for the m4/AR-15 and can get you the dimensions for the mag catch pocket if you have the tools to measure it.

Let me know and I’ll find those numbers for you

I can measure it. Let me know, and we will see how far out it is.

Width: 0.250 +.004 -0.000
Length: 1.509 +/- 0.008
Center of hole: 3.0795 +/- 0.0025 from center of front take down pin
Bottom of slot: 0.9375 +/- 0.0035
