I saw this story in the New York Times and was amazed that there was a prepper movement that I hadn’t heard of, that it appears to be centered on Central Florida, and also that a branch of the MSM would do a positive story about prepping.

I wonder how many Feds are associated with the two groups in the story. Remember, the Fed is the one urging you to do something illegal.

Thank you for the link. Weird comment in the article… he forgot his boots… and he’s “prepared”?

Thanks for the info. I too strictly stick with family and well known close friends.
Went with a friend from work to a local groups get together just to check them out after his bragging on their meets. Some good stuff went on but they had a tendency to talk a lot of shit that if taken a certain way, would be used by feds. Tried to tell them to chill a little on public comments with large groups but too many macho tough guys. Was there for less 30 minutes and saw a fed I had seen at a Northcom meeting in COS. Tried to tell my friend about feds being interested in the group, without IDing him I’m not that stupid. the next day to either stop going or change the way things are presented or form his own separate small group to alleviate fed intrusions to no avail. To make a long story short, he lost his security clearance about 6 months later and without that lost his position afterwards.
I basically don’t open up and have any trust with anyone I haven’t known for a LONNGGGG time. I have friends but a very small group that I would trust for bad times situations needing OPSEC. The larger the group the, larger the FED interest.
.GOV since the Patriot Act is not there to just check you out, They are there to find something or make something up to bag themselves a promotion on your dime.

As an aside, I never saw these 2 channels before, bookmarked them for further looks later. Free training is free training. Always looking to learn new ways of doing things.
Thanks:)

Thanks for allowing us to bypass the paywall 🙂

Very interesting article. Personally, I wouldn’t go within a mile of those people simply because the NYT paid for the writer to take the course. I’m sure the dudes running the show are legit but I agree it’s strange to see it in the Times.
The woman learning to shoot made sense. The two written accounts were disconnected though.
