Alex Jones has to pay $1 billion. He says he will fight, delay, and appeal for years. In any case, he is likely done. Still, the reason for what was done to him is apparent to anyone paying attention. Just look at this article from the Guardian: Only proper online regulation can stop poisonous conspiracists like Alex Jones and by Alex Jones, they mean anyone on the right, including and especially Donald Trump. I quote:

The freedom of speech which to John Milton was “above all liberties” is not that simple today.
You get that? They consider censorship like Russia, China, Iran, Saudi Arabia, the EU, and the UK are preferable to the freedom to say what you think. That is the lesson of Alex Jones: shut up, peasant. Silencing the opposition, it’s what every communist revolution needs to do.

Our Legal system (not justice system) is doing this to Alex Jones because his politics is on the “wrong” side, and the excessive penalty is to ‘pour encourager lse autres’. This goes along with your statement, ‘shut up, peasant’, because protest or dissent is only allowed by people withe the “correct” politics.

Don’t forget that this was a jury trial in Connecticut with a VERY sympathetic judge – I’m sure Jones will appeal and that the verdict will get cut massively on appeal.
Also, don’t forget that Jones didn’t actually do any of the actions that form the basis for the lawsuit; others did and they are not and have not been brought to trial…

I would imagine he will appeal and the amount will be lowered but the bar has for sure been set… the sole purpose was to set an example and punish the right… you know you are fucked when one side can change the definition of a word just to fit a narrative… like vaccine… but then that’s the commy way… my way or you will be silenced
