Police are used to victimizing unarmed people. That’s why they call SWAT when there is the least chance of facing armed opponents. I want to remind you of this incident, point out that the cops in New Mexico will chase anyone who runs from them instead of allowing themselves to be searched for firearms, and then ask again:

What could a four man fire support element do if they were in an overwatch position 100 yards or so away and this was a planned ambush? How hard would it be to lure police into a kill box and then overwhelm them with large amounts of fire before disengaging and disappearing before the cops can organize an effective counter ambush?

Several years back Matt Bracken wrote a few paragaraphs on a similar situation.

Short take, it would be easy, and while a 4-man fire team would be nice, 2 with experience on a 2-way range in a “loose L” could probably take care of it, from 50-80 meters out.

Shoot ‘n’ Scoot – fire 6-8 and boogey (don’t forget the brass catchers). Lather, rinse, repeat. Extra points for using 7.62X51.

Reminds me of a short story, involving an old van. Roof welded with AR500 steel. Filled with explosives so it blew outwards. Let loose into a crowd of “protesters” blocking the highway.

“Reporter: Madam Governor, do you really think that criminals are going to hear this message and not carry a gun in Albuquerque on the streets for 30 days?

Grisham: No. But here’s what I do think: It is a pretty resounding message to everybody else in that community to report a crime, to tell us what’s going on, to aid law enforcement to do something different.”

I just watched some of the press conference posted at GFZ
https://gunfreezone.net/gun-control-is-never-about-the-criminals-or-guns-but-control/
I am sick to my stomach: the sheer unfettered arrogance of that woman is beyond the pale.
It may be a parody/fake account but there is now a Twitter comment from David Hogg stating that there are no legal grounds for a public health emergency to be used to suspend constitutional rights.
If you’ve lost Hogg, you’re really lost.

    Divemedic · September 10, 2023 at 5:06 pm

They didn’t lose Hogg, he just knows how to boil a frog. Can’t turn the heat up too fast, or he will hop out.

I know you’re not stupid. Quite the opposite in fact. Hypothetical discussions are not a crime, yet. But things are progressing into uncharted territory these days, and laws and logic mean nothing (see New Mexico…)
That being said, wasn’t it the stamped metal 1-shot .45 zip guns they they air dropped all over france?
Do you know what time it is officer?
Got a light, officer?
Hey officer, the GPS on my phone is saying… can you show me where this tourist thinggy is?
2 guys can take 2, just have to have exfil figured out. Strike when the exit presents itself.
The mob had this shit figured out stone cold. You see cartels doing the same thing in traffic. Sandwich the cruiser with a couple pickups, roll the back windows down or ride in the bed, spray.
I personally like the idea the DC sniper used: a couple steady hands with 300 win-mags under a tonneau cover. Point the back of the truck where you need to, drop the gate…. 2 shots each, gone in 20 seconds, or less, no brass.
Reminds me, revolvers don’t leave shells behind like semi-auto dontchaknow?
Would be a great time to start collecting and randomly sprinkling range brass all over your AO.

I think its safe to say we are moving further down this road, thus one should move themselves further along as well.

    Divemedic · September 10, 2023 at 5:12 pm

There are spots in your AO where cops like to park by themselves so they can screw off or take a nap, especially late at night. If you are aware of what happens in your area, you know where those are.

Anonymous · September 10, 2023 at 10:11 am

Thoughts:

I understand the businessmen taken down in the vid were just tying to run off the roving police marauders , but trying to intimidate opponents with a lethal weapon without considering that the move may not work and could escalate needs to be considered. Both parties in this video made the same mistake. There is no reason at all for a reasonable person to assume shots coming from a roving van at night were police with rubber bullets. The cops should have known better.

Riot control needs to be open and as violent as necessary to restore order. This sneaking around in a wheeled gunship shooting at anyone/everyone is criminal.

With the confluence of the new covid lockdowns and the New Mexico “public health” suspension of 2nd Amendment rights, the day is fast approaching where police checkpoints or mask enforcement arrests on empty beaches are going to result in dead cops, lots of dead cops. The Maui fire roadblocks just might be the last time anyone is going to passively accept imminent death merely because a cop is blocking your path to safety.

If they keep acting like the Black and Tans, yes, people are going to start shooting them on sight wherever adequate cover to initiate action and withdraw is available, surprise is possible, and local fire superiority can be achieved. The cops who sit on the same spots habitually for traffic enforcement speed traps will lead the rest of the thin blue line into oblivion.

Be still my heart! Cops will learn real fast when that scenario is presented. Of course a few of those will have unintended consequences. Cops might shoot first than wait to be ambushed. People themselves will shoot first before the cops do. You know martial law will be implemented and military will provide in force security/over watch. I know cops need to be taught a lesson they will not forget and that lesson means spilled blood. We have tried talking with them and that goes nowhere.

A question: When I click on save my name, email, website it doesn’t save it. Is that turned off?

    Divemedic · September 10, 2023 at 5:14 pm

I have been working on the save email feature. I am having trouble with it.

Robert (Not Rob) · September 10, 2023 at 11:03 am

It would be easy to setup such an ambush, and the police respondents would be wiped out. The perpetrators would almost certainly get away clean. At first.

The aftermath would be every police force in the State turning the area upside down to find the perpetrators. And they would find somebody. Most likely they would kill them during the arrest. They would get the dog too.

They might even find the real perpetrators, instead of just “rounding up the usual suspects”. But the most important feature would the “breaking news of the arrests, film at 6:00pm”.

A planned assassination of police was already done by a Muslim immigrant in North Dakota. Not very skillfully. But a worked example provides a learning experience for others, interested in such things.

The first successful wave of assassinations of police and other government officials will be performed by obscure Leftist groups belonging to protected classes of people. They do have some people with military skills and experience. They will be allied with organized crime.

It will not be “right-wing-Patriot groups”, though they will be blamed for the programs. Best not to get sucked into the fantasies of armed rebellion against the police or the government. The real thing will be police ordered to stand down in favor of new criminal organizations which are their designated replacements.

Recalcitrant officers, who aren’t going along with the program will be the ones targeted and set up for the ambushes.

Beans · September 10, 2023 at 11:34 am

It’s already been done, repeatedly, in 2016 and 2017. Cops ambushed by fake calls or by purposeful traffic infractions leading to chases.

Two incidents, if I remember, happened in Louisiana. One or two in California. Some others smattered around the map.

Imagine this was WWII. Would either side leave allow the enemy to have a base to launch attacks from, if they could prevent it? Why the deference? Or instead, why not write in a vote for a libertarian presidential candidate, and avoid this war? I don’t think you want liberty, I think you want a big government that sends its spoils to the middle class. But that never happens, government sends its spoils to itself.

    Divemedic · September 10, 2023 at 5:16 pm

LOL. After watching Trump, you still think that you can vote in the right people and fix it all? That isn’t even getting into the argument of the Libertarian party being a huge circle jerk of masturbatory fantasies.

Anonymous · September 10, 2023 at 1:53 pm

What’s possible? All kinds of mayhem, of course.

Historically, do governments trample on their citizenry when they fear the people? No.

Will NM citizens start targeting cops as posited in your hypothetical? I highly doubt it.

“Prudence, indeed, will dictate that Governments long established should not be changed for light and transient causes; and accordingly all experience hath shewn, that mankind are more disposed to suffer, while evils are sufferable, than to right themselves by abolishing the forms to which they are accustomed. But when a long train of abuses and usurpations, pursuing invariably the same Object evinces a design to reduce them under absolute Despotism, it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such Government, and to provide new Guards for their future security.”

A Strider · September 10, 2023 at 2:43 pm

So don’t go around unarmed, take your freedom seriously.
Who cares what uniform is worn, gibberish speak, what name they give to their false god, age or demographic, evil doers get the force and fire.

Unknownsailor · September 10, 2023 at 3:35 pm

I had forgotten about this incident.

Said 4 man fire support element a) needs to know these cops are out doing this stuff b) know where they are, and c) know where good ambush sites are.

They need a detailed Area Study, and a comms element that can DF.

NM police don’t have sovereign immunity anymore due to legislation, was this the precipitating incident that brought said legislation to the desk of the governor?

Doc Ford · September 11, 2023 at 1:00 am

Reading a book in the same genre as Enemies Foreign and Domestic – Cascade: The Fallen Republic by James Tarr – pretty good fiction, believable, unfortunately.

Channel your Inner Dorner. And someone beat me to the importance of Area Studies….

Wyowanderer · September 11, 2023 at 10:20 am

I’m reminded of a remark by an old(er) fellow in another town, made during a discussion of the system pigs dragging a family out of their house: “The people in that city need to burn houses down – the cops, the judge, the prosecutor – everyone involved. THAT would put a stop to it.
Same goes for military folks – if you deploy to obey government tyranny, you come back to no house.”
Seems like the Bundy ranch raid failed because of determined folks.

Anonymous · September 13, 2023 at 2:34 pm

The “Bundy Ranch Incident” was a severe wake-up call to the Tyrants and Thugpigs – the longer it went on, the more people kept showing up, Armed, and unorganized, so there was no “Leadership Group” for the fedpigs to ‘take out’. All it would have taken was a Single Shot – even an ND – and it would have been Lexington Green, but with Semi-Auto Weapons.
I think that this is the reason why the .gov now only attacks Individuals, by Surprise. So, how long before someone who Knows the thugpigs are coming for him, and has a Claymore Mine (improvised or not) under the Porch?
