From a post last May:

What we are watching here is the death of the country that we grew up with.

It’s mathematically and historically certain at this point- our government and the nation it is nominally in charge of are about to fail. There is nothing that can prevent that. Do you think the American citizens will sit idly by while Conservative militias tell them that their social security and welfare are a thing of the past? How large will the riots be when the free money machine stops flowing?

  • We would still be living under a government with $30 something trillion in debts and another couple hundred trillion in as yet unfunded liabilities. Those over 45 or so are going to demand their Social Security, which we cannot afford to pay. Any one who thinks otherwise is foolishly deluded. The entire world is on the verge of an economic collapse caused by profligate spending and loose fiscal policy.
  • The bloated bureaucracy that is the Federal government. What to do with it? What are all of those workers going to be doing while you are telling them that they are fired? Sure, the government may have fallen by that point, but you still have a large number of now unemployed Feds who will be fighting for power. It will make the Somali warlord faction fight small by comparison.
  • With all of that going on, the Chinese and Russians are not going to stand idly by and do nothing. Likewise, neither are the Mexican cartels. As soon as the US government is weak, expect those who are strong to take action. So any new government will have to deal with that while also trying to get the domestic house in order.

You aren’t going to fix those problems with a charge up Bunker Hill, Capitol Hill, or any other hill. To try and do so would be an exercise in futility and a waste of your life. Even should you survive that battle, what of the next? and the next? and the one after that?

What SHOULD we do? Exactly what we are doing, that’s what. Watch, make sure that you, your families, and your like minded neighbors are in as good a position for weathering the coming storm as you can be. Have food, water, and shelter taken care of. Make sure you have skills in as many fields as possible: know some medicine, how to grow food, how to repair things. Those skills you don’t have, make friends with those locally who do have them. Make sure you aren’t a freeloader- bring skills to the table that those others will need. Store your wealth in things that aren’t measured in dollars. In other words, don’t put all of your eggs in the stock market, in cash, or the bank. When the economy collapses, all of that will become worthless. Instead, own land, own tangible things that are useful like a home, precious metals, tools, ammunition, canning supplies, and other things that are useful in trade.

So my advice here is to recognize that securing your own position through this is the best course of action. Understand what you can and cannot change, learn to tell the difference, and adapt to that which you cannot change. Governments fall, but the people remain. Make sure that you are one of the ones who remain. I know that some of you will think that this sounds defeatist, and maybe it is. I just don’t think that there is any way to change the course that this nation is on. It will play out, and my objective is to still be around to see what comes after.

Defense doesn’t win wars, but it does get you killed one by one as the enemy pick and choose when, where, and who to engage. We have tried not fighting back for 60 years, and it’s gotten us to where we are now.

Government is local. Organize your neighborhood. Your township. Your city. Your county. Your state. Your region.

    Divemedic · April 11, 2024 at 7:26 am

So what are you waiting for? Start stacking bodies. Before you get started, though:
1 What is your plan for defeating them?
2 Once you win, how are you going to fix everything? Just how do you plan on getting things back on course, and addressing the issues of everyone still expecting their SS checks, the FedGov workers still wanting their paychecks, while at the same time dealing with Russia, China, and other nations who will be busy snatching US land?

      Steve · April 11, 2024 at 9:40 am

1 What is your plan for defeating them?

Depends on your definition of “them”. For most values of “them”, Stein’s Law is enough.

Just how do you plan on getting things back on course, and addressing the issues of everyone still expecting their SS checks, the FedGov workers still wanting their paychecks…

Back on course is the wrong plan. It will just go tits up again, probably faster since there’s a roadmap. Simply stopping all government outlays on health care fixes things through the foreseeable future. All means all. No more Medicare, Medicaid, VA, paid retirement health plans, FDA, CDC, etc.

Maybe someday if government proves it’s ability to manage the small stuff, it can be entrusted with the big stuff, but not until.

        Divemedic · April 11, 2024 at 9:48 am

Back on course means having a functional nation that hasn’t degenerated into a Somalia style anarchy. Since you are stopping everything, then how do you plan on dealing with all of the people who were once employed by, or receiving largesse from, the government? You haven’t thought this through to the point where this leads.
This is the point of my post. There is no plan forward that will lead to the utopia that so many seem to think is going to happen.

          EN2 SS · April 11, 2024 at 3:21 pm

IMHO, There is no plan available to prevent Americas fall in to Somalia Act II.

          Big Ruckus D · April 11, 2024 at 4:52 pm

No, there is no plan, and there is no utopia, nor can there be. Just killing scores upon scores until everyone left alive is too tired and demoralized to go on doing so. There is also no restoring any part of the current system to workability. It’s flat out fucked, and there is no money to pay for any of what has been foolishly promised – irrespective of demands – or even any willingness to consider setting a course correction, which would be too little and too late to matter now.

Further, through allowing a massive proliferation of tit suckers, bottom feeders and multitudes of culturally incompatible groups of people to establish a beachhead in the same space, we have the perfect conditions in place to bring about the worst and most violent collapse the world has ever seen.

This is true simply on account of the numbers. No previous collapse has seen a total world population anywhere near present levels. That, and the loss of competence and the skills to maintain the technology and systems that form the basis of modernity, will assure massive death tolls just from starvation and disease, before one even counts those dead of the direct actions of war. Hell, governments of the West are actively working to wreck farming and the power grid, both of which are imperative to maintaining the established population both here and abroad. War will further disrupt those fields, with inconceivably catastrophic results.

Ultimately, what cannot be paid will not be. Those pissed off about not getting what they were promised may well revolt, and many will die doing so. They probably need to anyway, as what will provide them any tolerable standard of living in the absence all the largesse that previously did so? Hell if I know. Those who survive that initial phase of the crash and burn may well come to wish they had died earlier, as they will come to live in conditions and witness things that no man should ever have to experience.

I’m convinced we are at the precipice of nothing less than the loss of western civilization. What comes after is too terrible to contemplate, and I suspect that interregnum will last a very long time before surviving humanity can get up off it’s ass and have even a prayer of rebuilding. I really don’t see how a new dark age can be avoided.

We should be so lucky to get a USSR style collapse here. The average Russian woke up one day, and the Soviet system was gone, along with all it’s scams, propaganda and unfulfillable promises. People just had to accept that, and the shit canning of everything they’d been taught or told to believe by the defunct power structure. I don’t think we will come through a similar scenario cleanly, no where even close. The end of the USSR was marked by a tired, sclerotic govt that had run out of the motivation and resources to impose it’s will by way of force. The present govt of the FUSA meanwhile, is clearly still intent on fomenting violence and persecutions against those it views as it’s subjects. The crisis of competence and lack of funding will take some of the bite out of that, but certainly not all. And it won’t stop those intent on violence for it’s own sake, even if there is no paycheck in it.

In short, I see nothing even remotely resembling a reason to have any hope for the future. That shit wears on me, but I still get up every day and do the grind. What else would I do, unless I want to eat a bullet (and for the record, I don’t).

          Steve · April 12, 2024 at 9:50 am

Functional nation? Not interested unless people explain exactly the mechanism they propose to keep it from going awry again. Preferably involving wild dogs, hungry alligators and fire ants.

I wasn’t proposing that as a solution. Just explaining that the premise of point 1, that “we” couldn’t afford Social Security, is not true. SS is within spitting distance of workable, now and for the foreseeable future, with a couple tweaks to retirement age. Medicare has always been the completely unworkable one. “We” certainly could get out of that mess, but I agree “we” won’t.

      McChuck · April 12, 2024 at 4:37 am

      1) Kick out all the third world immigrants.
      2) Eliminate all the enemies of civilization.
      3) Write a constitution for a new White, Christian nation.
      4) Rebuild from the ashes with the 80-100 million survivors.
      5) Encourage a baby boom like never seen before.

My plan may not work, but not doing anything is certain death.

        Divemedic · April 12, 2024 at 7:37 am

That’s a great plan. How do you plan on carrying it out?

jimmyPx · April 11, 2024 at 8:39 am

I’ve though a lot about this over the years and the solutions are actually easy the problem is that people do not have the guts or will to do them. These are what is known as Draconian solutions.
The days of hand holding and being nice are over.
This is a hypothetical that I was elected King and had an army of followers to carry it out. In reality we’ll have Bosnian War 2.0 on steroids. But what you could do:

1. Seize all of the money and assets STOLEN by the “elite class” wherever in the World. Use Special Forces as needed and ventilate the bastards who did this.

2. From the money seized, pay Social Security and pensions up to a limit — no 100k a year for sitting on your ass for 20 years and double dipping.

3. ALL Taxes are null and void and Unconstitutional.

4. To pay for government, 20% Sales Tax on EVERYTHING (including all financial transactions).
No exceptions.

5. Federal government cut 75% and most regulations chucked. Except for safety monitoring of food, transportation, pollution, etc. Inspectors can never work for the industry and if caught taking money face a noose. Constitutional departments remain like Defense, State and Treasury.

6. All intelligence agencies disbanded. Have a National police like MI5 and an MI6 for foreign intelligence gathering.

7. Crime – Gallows built outside every court room. You get your fair trial and for all violent crime you swing. No more prisons, either you can be rehabilitaed and pay restitution or swing if you are a POS.

8. ALL welfare and social programs end period. You work or you starve, don’t like it too bad.

9. Homeless are rounded up and put in work camps. No booze or drugs, don’t like it ? starve.

10. Go through the entire criminal and civil code and get rid of much of it. What left laws need to be rewritten, simple and at no higher than a 6th grade level. You shouldn’t HAVE to hire a lawyer to defend yourself.

I could go on and I know it’s just a dream and people would say I was a monster if I did this but as DM said, the time for niceties is gone. You either have chaos and anarchy or draconian solutions.

    Divemedic · April 11, 2024 at 8:54 am

You know that most of your ideas are fiscally impossible, right? I could do an entire post tearing these apart, but I will instead just ask you: How do you implement these ideas? Or is this just some odd form of mental masturbation?

      Dan D. · April 11, 2024 at 10:34 am

You have to at least admire how jimmyPx has an imaginary army of people to execute upon his grand, Central Planning plans.

Anyway dude, you’ve really crossed the line now! You’re pointing out that most of the prep community lives in a lala land of “Civil War 2! F yeah! Bring it on!”-like fantasy. Can’t let all that MARPAT gear go to waste!

You suggest something like the guy at Exit Group explains in this podcast and their brains will explode like in the old movie Scanners. https://blog.exitgroup.us/p/55-you-have-one-year

      jimmyPx · April 11, 2024 at 6:36 pm

They are fiscally impossible under the “current system”. That system will not survive for much longer. The government can either file bankruptcy and repudiate the debt and all money owed (not going to happen) or what they are probably going to do is hyperinflate their way out like Weimer Germany. The government has promised over 160 trillion dollars in Social Security, pensions, Medicare, Medicaid, etc. They do not have nor will have the money.
I know my points are a pipe dream but they are far far better than what IS going to happen. All fiat money systems collapse and ours is about to. Once Brics is all up running with a gold backed currency and most of the countries of the World join (and they are about to), it’s sayanara U.S. dollar and our country and all of us are screwed.

        Divemedic · April 11, 2024 at 8:25 pm

On that we agree. So what happens to the person who tries to explain to the people that have just lost all of “their money” and “their jobs?”

If you read Deuteronomy a little closer, I think you will find that the amount for government and alms and such is 3.3%. And when you read it for yourself, I think you will find that your preachers have been lying about how the tithe is to be used.

Moses explains it three times. And three is a big number Biblically speaking.

IcyReaper · April 11, 2024 at 12:11 pm

Dam, I had forgotten that post. When I originally read this last year, it gave me goosebumps and now a year later along in the collapse, it still does when I reread it.
Its so thought provoking on whats coming and then whats next and how do you plan to rebuild things. The old adage:”Everyone has a plan to win till they get punched in the mouth” still apllies
I have had this discussion with friends and not friends that I tolerate from both right and left. And when it comes to a head, no one has come up with a viable plan. Its not just 2 sides right and left, there are literally dozens of different factions and no one wants to sacrifice their stuff.
The one comment from a old and very blunt Vietnam vet that actually made some realistic but brutal sense was. Its better to just let the dieoff happen and after maybe 75-90% of the population are dead then maybe just maybe the survivors could rebuild. Best case hope is a virus that causes the deaths, that would cull enough spread over groups to give you some chance. The local option at least postpones things, if you have a setup local group they will end up fighting multiple other factions, maybe if there are other local groups in your area to give you some manpower and weapons to win ( you dont have enough ammo and mid level weapon, once they allow illegals in the military and access to real weapons of war that’s it, your done), then you can stand off the savages but there will be more savages than good folks for a while. Even good people will go bad when starving.
But then if China or others decide to come in and take over, the issue starts all over again. If you haven’t noticed from the financial and commodities news, China over the last 18 months has bought enough food stocks to last them 3-5 years, wonder why? Maybe to just sit back and watch the coming chaos and at the end, come on down…..

What’s your take on any unpaid mortgages when it goes down? I would assume that there will be little/no income for an extended period of time.

    Divemedic · April 12, 2024 at 12:43 am

Depends on how it all goes down. Another thought provoking point- What happens to private property? Does the government nationalize all of it?

      Georgiaboy61 · April 12, 2024 at 2:02 am

David Webb’s book, “The Great Taking” describes what the globalist oligarchs and financial elites have in store for private property. Rather than try to recapitulate the contents here, suffice it to say that Klaus Schwab’s “You’ll own nothing and be happy,” is their endgame. What he meant by that is that the financial elites have quietly rewritten the rules governing collateral for loans and will be seizing private property as a result. I have not yet finished Webb’s book, just seen a few articles by him… but that’s the gist of their plan. Will it succeed? I don’t know, but they’re sure as heck going to have a crack at it, looks like….

      Steve · April 12, 2024 at 9:42 am

Maybe they would nationalize, but almost certainly would do so indirectly. They would let the banks be the bad guys foreclosing on you when you don’t make the payment. And you can almost guarantee that the US would at least try the route used by so many countries (particularly Central and South American) that all obligations are repriced in the new currency, so you don’t even get the benefit of paying off your mortgage with hyperinflated currency.

Then they set a foreclosure tax to in effect nationalize that fraction of the collapse, because who is going to come to the aid of the bankers?

Tree Mike · April 11, 2024 at 1:41 pm

Article is more pertinent today than last May. I’m going to stay out of the “fix it” fray, BUT, “If I were King, some heads would hafta roll, but people will fall in line…” I know, gallows humor. If only we could make Robert A. Heinlein king…

Dirty Dingus McGee · April 11, 2024 at 2:52 pm

There is NO solution, period. Even tho we may be nominally on the same side, we have different views on enough things where a coalition is near impossible. So if the country tears apart, it will sooner or later, what do we end up with? I see a situation similar to the African continent where various warlords control certain areas. And we all have seen how well that works out. Then comes the invasion by the Chicoms in the midst of this chaos. Will there be a coalition of various warlords to fight this threat? Some, but there will be an equal number who WANTS this invasion to succeed. So then we’re back to square one, still divided and now fighting 2 different enemies. In the event some miracle were to occur and a coalition WERE able to beat the invaders, then comes the inevitable government that will be no different than what we currently have, various ‘tribes” fighting for their “fair” share. And then we start over, same song different verse.

Same as it ever was, same as it will ever be.

“Costco selling as much as $200 million in gold bars monthly, Wells Fargo estimates”
https://www.cnbc.com/2024/04/09/costco-selling-up-to-200-million-in-gold-bars-a-month-wells-fargo-estimates.html

“Costco is selling 1-ounce bars made of nearly pure 24-karat gold. While the price is not disclosed online to nonmembers, it’s estimated that the product generally sells for about 2% above the spot price, which as of Tuesday morning was around $2,357 an ounce. That would put the price at Costco just more than $2,400.”

I am thinking about renewing my Costco membership.

The importance of owning some precious metals is part of the central message of “The Mandibles: A Family, 2029-2047” by Lionel Shriver. I won’t spoil it for you but obtaining some precious metals and then keeping them hidden from the thugs going house to house who will be seizing gold in the 2030s is tricky.

Historically, there have been 3 sides to the struggle in the US. The Right, The Left and The govt. So there has been some sort of balance that each side knows they may not win a fight based on how the govt goes.
Now the globalist hired tacticians have gone to grey zone warfare and are adding a forth side joker in the deck, which coming from a old military tactician is brilliant, the invaders. To confuse things they are a vast collective of immigrants, refugees, gangs, cartels, foreign fighters, foreign military so its easier to count them as one and mask their intent.

Standing back and looking at this mess tells me one thing, we better pray for a real virus or SMOD to cull the numbers or its endless warfare till you are eventually killed. You ain’t got enough ammo and friends. You can delay it but stop it, not likely…..

There was a baby boom. There never was any way for a decreasing number of workers to support an increase number of retirees in idleness. The retirees are going to go back to work, or starve. Work might be sitting in an air-conditioned tractor cab making sure the farm combine is working properly.

Only the government is failing, not the middle class who works. The fossil fuels are still in the ground, the crops are still free of disease, there’s no asteroid strike or supervolcano. Anyone who is making or doing a product or service that customers will voluntarily pay for may continue to do so, and fund their lifestyle. What will happen is the tax transfers will stop, and thus the freeloading. When a car runs out of gas, it rolls to a stop; it doesn’t explode spectacularly. There is no logistic support to allow any batch of government ex-employees or ex-freeloaders to make war on anybody batch of former taxpayers. We already know what happens when government loses control of an area after a disaster; somebody spraypaints “looters will be shot” on a piece of plywood and…nothing happens.
