My taxes are all done, with the exception of my broker’s statement from my stock broker. For the 2025 tax year, I owe more than $3,000 to the IRS in April of this year. In total, I paid more than $47,000 in Federal taxes. On top of that, I paid over $7,000 in property taxes, thousands in sales taxes, and who knows how much in use taxes (like gasoline), tolls, and other miscellaneous fees and taxes. Call it more than $60,000 in total taxes for the year.

Don’t tell me that I don’t pay my fair share.

I own a small office building (5,300 ft2) and office warehouse (3,750 ft2) on 14 acres in south Texas. With my home, I paid around $30,000 in property taxes in 2025. I can hardly wait to figure out my federal income taxes. Luckily, I live in Texas so no state income taxes.

This woke up a sibling as the house needed repairs and he noticed how much they stole in taxes.
Later he moved to the other side of the country with a smaller tax rate.
The pension got cut into when he returned to work.

If you could change to a contractor and setup an s corp you would save a ton of taxes.

Liberal Logic says that you need to pay more. It’s only fair, right?
Oh, you are already paying more than most? Doesn’t matter, you need to pay more.
It’s only fair.
