Democrats in New York passed a law requiring background checks for ammunition. Now it’s taking up to 30 days to buy ammo. People will simply go to other states to purchase ammo, putting NY gun stores out of business. That’s the real goal.

Presumably it’s illegal for New York residents to buy ammo out of state and bring it back, much as it is for Californians; so there’s also that nice feature.

Any online ammo seller that is willing to give NY govt. a big waving middle finger and sell to the people is going to make a fortune.

Of course this was always the goal. You will see more and more “enhanced” situations where something may not go against what’s specifically stated in the 2nd amendement. I think all the reliable blue states will be going this route, and soon we will see reloading supplies going on these wait lists. Because terrorists or something. I also predict it will not be much longer before there are federal laws passed that parrot this sort of thing, as well as things that are made regulations by the BATFE, etc that do very similar things. While the EPA has gotting smacked down by the courts at the highest level things still took years to get there. Hard to compete and pay for lawyers, court costs etc when you go against a .gov that is able to just add some zeros electronically to make sure they can continue paying for things.

Sadly for New Yorkers, going across the state line to purchase ammo won’t be that easy. CT requires a permit (relatively easy for out of staters to get, however). Massachusetts is their usual Masshole selves and I don’t believe out of staters can purchase. Not sure about Vermont (probably no big deal) or Pennsylvania (probably the same). However, New York is BIG and driving to reach a border state could take hours. It will just be the gun stores close to a friendly border who will be most affected.

One thing I do know about New Yorkers is that they are all for laws being passed, but then they simply ignore them. The amount of graft and corruption there is off the charts. Bribes here, “It fell off a truck” there, and “my cousin is a government official” is the norm.

Yes, I know it’s a big state, but there will be ammo sold on the black market within weeks, if it isn’t already. Drive to PA, buy 4 cases of ammo. Sell all but one at double the price you paid, and pocket the profits.

I have a friend in upstate New York. They absolutely detest folks in NYC-it overwhelms the rest of the state with nanny government and demonrats. Small town folks in upstate will still get their ammo-if they have to drive to Wyoming or Montana.

California has had background checks for ammo for a couple years. Cost is a dollar each time and takes a minute unless you have not bought a firearm in the past 15 or 20 years. Then it is a more of a pain in the ass.
