The left is losing their collective shit over Trump’s bombing of Iran. They are claiming that it’s unconstitutional. There are, as usual, Democrats claiming he should be impeached for it. DJT can’t take a dump without someone trying to impeach him for it. As far as it being unconstitutional, I would simply point out that every President since at least Eisenhower has taken military action without seeking the permission of Congress. The law simply says that he has to notify Congress within 48 hours. It doesn’t say HOW he has to notify them. I would send them a letter by certified mail. The courts have ruled that, when the law requires a notification be sent or given, that notification is complete upon mailing. Done. Keep the receipt.
There are also those on both sides who are making the claim that Iran is peaceful, not pursuing nukes, and the US shouldn’t be doing Israel’s bidding. Let’s talk about that. First, on Iran being peaceful. I was in the military for many of these incidents, and was actually there for some of them:
- 1983: Iranian backed terrorists detonate a pair of truck bombs in Beirut, killing 241 Marines, 18 sailors, 3 soldiers, 58 French military personnel, and six civilians.
1987: The USS Stark is struck by 2 Iranian Air to Surface Exocet missiles, killing 37 US sailors and wounding 21 others. The ship nearly sank, but the crew was able to extinguish the fires, despite a quarter of the crew being casualties.My mistake. That missile was Iraqi.- 1988: The USS Samuel B Roberts strikes an Iranian sea mine and nearly sank. 14 sailors were wounded.
- 1988: The US and Iranian navy exchanged fire. The US Navy destroyed, damaged, or sank two Iranian oil platforms, three warships, several armed boats, and two fighter jets. Two U.S. Marine aviators died when their helicopter crashed into the Gulf.
- 1988: USS Vincennes is engaged in gunfire with Iranian gunboats. During the battle, a civilian aircraft was headed towards the US warship and didn’t heed radio challenges. It was shot down, killing all 290 aboard.
- 1996: Iranian backed terrorists detonate a bomb at Khobar towers, killing 19 Air Force personnel and wounding nearly 500.
- 2016: Iran captures two US patrol boats.
- 2000: USS Cole was attacked by Iranian terrorists while in port.
- 2024, January: Iranian backed terrorists attack a US base in Jordan.
- 2024, August: Iran backed terrorists use drones to attack a US base in Syria.
- 2024-2025: Iran backed Houthi rebels fire missiles at US Navy ships, including an aircraft carrier.
- 2025, February: Three Iranian gunboats made an attack run against a pair of US ships in the Persian Gulf. They only turned away after warning shots were fired.
They are constantly holding the world hostage by capturing shipping as it passes through the Persian Gulf, mining the Persian Gulf, and supporting terrorism.
The claim that Iran isn’t pursuing nukes is simply wrong. They have enriched Uranium to more than 60%. There is no use for that level of enrichment, except for use as a weapon. Even the IAEA reports that Iran had 2700 centrifuges in place there, which was a violation of the Obama nuclear agreement. Sure, the Obama administration had the Iranians pinky swear that they wouldn’t make a nuclear bomb, and the Iranians would never lie, would they?
As you can see, Iran has been attacking US forces for more than 50 years. In this case, Israeli interests and US interests happen to be the same in this case, and I don’t have a problem with someone finally dealing with those assholes. Sure, we need to try for peace, but you can’t let other nations continually attack you and pretend that it isn’t happening.
Trump has used the US military exactly four times: Against Iran in 2025, Isis in 2025, ISIS in 2020, and LA in 2025. That’s far fewer than any of the last Presidents going all the way back to Herbert Hoover.
To those who would tell me that if I support this, I should go serve? I already did. I was in for six years, and did 2 combat tours. In the late 80s, I was in a bar less than an hour before it was bombed by terrorists. (I couldn’t find a link to the story.) I’ve been there. Look, most of the times that the US military has been used in the past 70 years, it was an unnecessary use of military force, and that includes the 1990 Gulf War. This case? I don’t have a problem with it. Iran needs to be brought to heel. Instead of taking half measures designed to “teach them a lesson” which they obviously aren’t learning, they need to have their war making factories destroyed.

I agree that Iran isn’t the good guy here but sounds like all of those attacks happened OVER THERE. How many times do we tell each other to avoid being around stupid people in stupid places doing stupid things? And yet we’ve been sticking our dick where it doesn’t belong for decades over there. And yes, they shouldn’t have nukes. But it’d be a lot easier to accept a limited strike if it wasn’t so obvious that we are always Israel’s little bitch on the world stage.
I’m kind of on the fence here. I think Trump has the authority to order the strikes, I just wish the optics were better and we could do a one and done deal. My fear is this started another 2 or 3 decades of war over there. Again.
And not a knock on the service people who were killed or injured. My comments are a criticism of our politicians and their fucked up decision.

I get where you are coming from and understand your reasoning and both agree and disagree on a few issues, been there also as have my 2 sons multiple times and all have scars and VA disabilities to prove it. I am not defending who are good or bad guy countries, there are too many geopolitical facets on this topic and the middle east in general to spend time typing anything less than a War and Peace novel. But as to enrichment, assume that’s a bargaining chip and a fall back IF needed. Of all the countries we attack solely to force them to do what we want or its mandatory Regime change no matter what it does to their countries needs or desires, what countries do we NOT fuck with? Don, the current Iran regime declared war on the US when they invaded our embassy in 1979, we’ve just been (mostly) ignoring them since, even with all the provocations listed above. As soon as the mullahs have nuclear weapons they will strike Israel and us. They’ve threatened that for years and years. With the Israelis controlling the airspace we had a window to remove the enrichment capability they weren’t supposed to have in a way that made it clear the B2s and Tomahawks can do it again and again if needed.
It takes two to make peace but only one to make War, we finally stepped up to the table and gave them the war they’ve been threatening for decades.

2 I still think it was a mistake to ignore SA’s role in 9/11. Then again, Bin Laden was a CIA trained asset, proving that most military intervention and meddling in regime changes to be a mistake.
3 That doesn’t change the fact that Iran having a nuke would be a huge error. This is a nation that believes that they can bring back Muhammed by starting Armageddon. N Korea, China, Russia, Israel, and the other nations don’t believe that they have a mandate from God to begin the end of the world.

So did George Washington. Maybe they knew something about Europe’s constant war issues.

But if you hear the call, please feel free to go and fight, or if you’re too old, send YOUR kids over there to fight like you have done in the past. I haven’t seen any mention of the differences between the present nuclear powers and the muslimes. All present powers want the inherent power of having nukes, but they want to live to enjoy that power. Muslimes fanatically believe that to bring the return of their great mahdi, coincidentally known as the Anti-Christ, that they must start the Final War, known as Armegeddon. It is possible to live in a reasonably sane nuke world, but I don’t think we can live with nuke armed insanity, that proclaims their intention to bring about the actual end of the world for their pedophile’s sake.
And if, God forbid, the muslimes make an attempt to kill President Trump, I firmly believe that we should unleash the full power of the Air Force on them, as in Dresden/Tokyo, level entire cities that might harbor any of the mullahs and their demons.

A reasonable response to those who claim martyrdom as a high honor is to kill them.
That is all the more reasonable when they continue to make proclamations that they will kill us and work on credible projects to do so. They are not attempting in any way to conceal their intentions.
There is no need to wait for them to succeed before sending them off to their honored status.
And martyrdom is highly overrated.

History lesson time/Short version: As for Iran, everyone needs to understand the US and Brits staged a coup to take out the very popular Iranian elected Prime Minister and .GOV to install the Shah in 1953. This was the beginning of US involvements in coups actually by joining the Bits who had been fucking the world and us for centuries. It was due to the Iranian Prime Minister got tired of them getting fucked by the Brits BP Oil on Oil/Gas profits and the Bits even added lots of fees on the management of the platforms to fuck them even more. So the Iran PM said FU and started to nationalize their Oil, not to stop selling to BP or the west but THEY wanted to control it and profits to the Iranian people with the required Iran officials cut of course. So of course the Brits went ape shit that anyone refused their rule and the American CIA joined right in and installed the Shah Mohammad Reza Pahlavi. He then started a brutal regime with a internal Police called the SAVAK that did VERY bad things to anyone not bending the knee. The CIA and MI6 helped find dissident people outside the country for the SAVAK to hunt down and kill. Read a few books about this or just ck out Wiki for a condensed version, its was amazing what was done to the Iranians.
Anyway, there was a revolt and the Ayatollah Khomeini was installed and then all the modern conflict between the US and the west began BUT that has been moderating for about 15 years and now this shit starts again. Furthermore, no one wants to talk about the Gadaffi effect. He turned over Libya’s WMDs in 2003, and not even a decade later, he is getting anally raped by a bayonet, on camera, after his government fell under direct assault by NATO forces. Good guy, bad guy. I don’t give a shit. All I care about is the interests of the US. It isn’t our job to be world police. Iran has been attacking our forces, and has threatened to use a nuke on us (and, yes, Israel), should they get one.
For those reasons alone, we should do what we can to prevent that. The Stuxnet virus was the first time we took direct action. Explain how this time was different.
