Colonel Sheyla Baez Ramirez. Ramirez assumed command of the Fort McCoy Garrison in Wisconsin in 2024. Ramirez is a left wing political activist who refuses to display the official photographs of the Secretary of Defense, President, and the Vice President.
There is a growing movement in the US military of Commissioned officers who are refusing to display the photos of the President, Vice President, and SecDef. Many of them are being relieved of command. The left is claiming that the Free Speech rights of these officers is being violated to soothe Trump’s ego.
They are wrong. Military personnel are subject to the Uniform Code of Military Justice. Article 88 has this to say:
Any commissioned officer who uses contemptuous words against the President, the Vice President, Congress, the Secretary of Defense, the Secretary of a military department, the Secretary of Homeland Security, or the Governor or legislature of any State, Commonwealth, or possession in which he is on duty or present shall be punished as a court-martial may direct.
This is important, because the US military MUST be subservient to civilian control. Allowing officers to oppose that civilian control carries with it a large risk of military coup. Seldom is it seen for Generals to engage in military coups. Usually, it is colonels who do those sorts of things.

Generals are inherently political creatures, and they are therefore close to the existing power structure the coup intends to overthrow. They got their position through connections, potentially through patronage, and they themselves enjoy powers of patronage and influence. In this case, many of the officers who oppose Trump are there because Biden put them there through DEI programs. They remain loyal to the left.
An example needs to be made of a couple of these mutinous assholes. Start an Article 31 investigation and court martial a couple of them. Reduce them in rank to the lowest you can get away with, toss them in jail for a year or so, and give them a BCD.

I have been tasked Article 31 investigations both commissioned and enlisted for Article 88 offenses when I was an Army MP. None went well for the perpetrators, this was back 1976 to 1980 there were activist leftists that were outspoken and they were quickly and efficiently relieved of duty and court martialed, Most received what you described in your post including severe fines. What ever you thought of officers, NCOs, politicians you kept in in your head and your mouth shut, you didn’t even tell your fox hole buddy.

Agree. Although it looks like SSDD (same shit, different day) since nothing is getting done that should be. The first thing that should happen is Milley recalled to active duty, busted to E1, sent to prison for awhile, then given a DD for treason (if not hanged)….. or is it now OK to go behing the CIC’s back and tell the CCP you’ll keep them informed of the President’s intentions?

Was assigned to 24Sig/24Inf Augsburg 1960. CG was Edwin Walker. He started something called Force Blue among senior NCOs among others. It was said that his intention was to seize tac nukes from Seventh Corp. What the final plan was, I never knew. He was ” arrested ” and eventually flown to his home in Texas where he was kept under twenty four guard. Was kept very quiet with no formal proceedings to my knowledge. The only publication that mentioned anything was the oversexed weekly.

Yeh, about that freedom of speech thing. Keeping the military subordinate to the Civilian authority is foundational. A Colonel who is so openly defiant needs to be hammered down hard and fast. It’s peace time so putting her up against a wall is probably excessive but breaking her down to O-1 and booting her out with fines/ jail time is necessary.

A Special Court Martial is enough for this offense, as long as this is all that she has done. The max she could get under a Special would be a year in jail and a BCD, which would strip her of her pension.

Garrison commander is often a Colonel’s last posting. Commander of the Garrison of a Reserve base is even lower status… I suspect she is at least somewhat of a DEI hire to have gotten that far, but even then her management doesn’t think much of her. The name makes me think she is high in melanin…
But even in that position, she can still do damage – the sooner she is gone, the better!

Giving someone the Big Chicken Dinner as punishment is practically impossible anymore unless you wear MAGA gear. My youngest son retired from the Army 2 years ago and he made it his life works his last year to give a real scumbag the BCD, but nope no can do. Perp meets multiple protected group status.
