A pair of cops in Virginia Beach were shot and killed this weekend. The area of town in which they were killed is just a couple of miles where I was involved in an incident between myself, a couple of military guys, and a local street gang. The area where these cops were killed is lousy with gangs.
You can read about my own incident here in part one, then you can find the rest of the story in part two and in part three. It’s a good story that tells how I was once arrested for aggravated battery and discharging a firearm into an occupied vehicle.
At any rate, it’s a bad neighborhood, and the VA Beach police are pretty ineffective, or at least they were 30 years ago when I lived there.
I used to express condolences to police when they were killed in the line of duty. I don’t any longer.

I was stationed in Norfolk 79-81 and I hated it and the surrounding area. Virginia Beach seemed OK but I didn’t spend enough time inport to come to any conclusions. When we went to the yards in Portsmouth you had to lock up your car in a gated area which was locked at night. The bars would close at six and the place was dead.
Virginia is for Lovers, but not for sailors.

Part III mentions how the laws have changed between them and now.
That change for the better didn’t just happen. It certainly isn’t because some politician saw the light.
Gun rights organizations made it happen. Very often the laws change for the better only after year after year, even decades, a group had been pushing for the change.
Everyone reading this must support these groups by donating time or money, or both. The national groups are well known, but some states have a gun group working solely within that state. They all need our support. Be generous and throw some bucks their way. Volunteer to man the table at a gun show and so on.

I completely agree, which is why I have been making a monthly donation to the FPC for the past three years. Before that, it was the SAF. Even though I am a life member of the NRA, I haven’t associated with that organization in more than a decade.

Just read yer back story, Holy shit! Glad you came through that so well. When and where I lived in So. Cal., we didn’t have to worry about that shit in East County, San Diego. Still a White, high trust area, been gone 10 years, not sure how it’s doing now.
Where I live in western, middle Tennessee now, it’s also a White high trust, area. The black folk around here, are not a concern, it’s the tweekers, white, fukken’, tweekers. They’re the same everywhere.
We’ve got 26 acres surrounded by the, like minded neighbors, 400 acres. He loves our, well mannered dogs, so they live in dog paradise. Two females and one real, large male, guard dog.
Heaven on earth, almost.
