Kroger closed a store that wasn’t turning a profit because it was seeing a large amount of theft. The Party for Socialism and Liberation staged a protest.

Saw a video about a state run grocery in Kansas City.
It featured empty shelves and rotting fruit.

Meanwhile, in Kansas City, they tried to have a gubmint supported grocery store because the coonmunity activists ditched about “food deserts.” The predictable result: Crime, drugs, prostitution, all in the parking lot, and rampant shoplifting resulting in a store that can’t pay it’s bills. It’s not a “food desert,” it’s a humanity desert.
That “Profit Over People” sign is so stupid. How can a company stay open without some profit? This is how we get morons like that Mamdani in NYFC.
Someone should counter-demonstrate with signs saying “No profit = No people” or something like that.

Exact same thing happened with Safeway and D.C. about 20 +/- years ago. Much hue-and-cry about “food deserts” down in the ‘hood, more expensive bodegas, etc., so Safeway, well prodded by TPTB and local media (aka “WaPo”), agreed to open a store.
It lasted 11 months and closed for exactly the same reason; highly predictable, that. And, when confronted by the same groups Safeway produced The Receipts on this store’s performance vs other stores.
AFAIK, no one else has tried The Experiment since.

Life is tough. It’s tougher when you’re stupid. I think they genuinely believe in their heart of hearts that the things they say are true. How to fix? Experience, my dear boy. Experience.

Lets turn this around, business’s dont care about your race, they just want a return on investment. Why in the world should a company have to take losses because the customers are robbing them blind. Having lived and worked in and around Detroit most of my life, I see the cost of doing business increases when the culture becomes black. Theft, pilferage and keeping the store clean and organized become impossible when the ghetto comes to your neighborhood.

So these same groups demand that the police be defunded and to not arrest thieves and shoplifters. They then are SHOCKED when those same thieves and shoplifters steal so much that the grocery store can’t stay in business ?
It is then the company and capitalism’s fault that that the store is closing and they now don’t have a grocery store in their neighborhood ?
Gotcha, I guess them dummies don’t understand the concept of “cause and effect” ?

If those protesting think it is good for Kroger, it is obviously a good business opportunity for them to open their own store.

I still am amazed at the number of people that think everything is a “right”. Food, shelter, clothing, healthcare…..
They confuse the right to have access to something with it being given to them freely. They still have access, just have to walk a bit further.

Look, we all know grocery prices are high. I’m probably spending close to double what I was pre Covid.I don’t like it but I adapt. Out here in my rural area, until 3 years ago we had a choice of 3 local “big chain” grocery stores plus a Super Walmart. Since then 3 other chains have opened giving us a bit more options. But even out here, there is a good amount if theft. The population here has doubled in the last 20 years, with the majority being “diverse”. Doesn’t take a rocket surgeon to figure out why things are getting worse.

Welcome to the jungle.
If these “people” could act halfway civilized maybe the stores wouldn’t be closing down.
Everywhere that these “people” live in large numbers that area goes to crap fast.
The city next to where I live refurbished their “MLK Drive” with new pavement, some rather fine brick work along the edge of the road and some antique style street lamps.
It really looked nice until the neighborhood had its way, now it looks like crap again.
Yep, welcome to the jungle but there aint no fun n games.
