Like A Business Deal

The left was celebrating a “Trump loss” when he tried to deport some illegals back to Columbia, and than nation refused to allow their citizens to reenter the country after initially agreeing to accept the flight. They were calling Trump every name in the book because the illegals were “handcuffed like criminals.”

They were handcuffed like criminals because they ARE criminals. So Trump notified the Columbian government that a 25% tariff would be placed on all Columbian imports, effective immediately. If Columbia didn’t begin allowing repatriation flights within a week, the tariffs would become 50%. The left went crazy, claiming that Trump was going to destroy the world because he was being unfair.

No, what is unfair is your co-called friends only liking you when you do the things that THEY want you to do. We are being taken advantage of like a 100 year old sugar daddy with his 20 year old supermodel girlfriend.

Instead, the Columbians, after some grumbling about how unfair it all is, decided to allow their citizens to be returned to them after all. Trump is both nicer and more effective than I would have been. I would have said, “Those citizens can’t be here. They are on a plane and won’t be returning. They can either be permitted to land in your country, or we are pushing them out the door, to land ON your country. You decide.”

As a businessman, Trump realizes that other nations NEED the US. More precisely, they need access to US markets. Well, the US needs things as well. Instead of just bending the knee and doing what they want to our own detriment, he works a deal: They get access to US markets, we get rid of their illegal emigrants. The man did write a book on the subject, after all.

That isn’t good enough for the left. The latest is that Trump is being a bully and is ruining our relationship with the world. I disagree- Trump is now refusing to be bullied by other nations who are simply taking advantage of the fact that the left likes borrowing money in order to buy gifts to make other people like them.

That has to end.

Anchor Babies

Donald Trump is claiming that he will end the practice where a pregnant woman illegally enters the US then presents herself to an Emergency Room while in labor, the hospital delivers the baby as required by EMTALA, and the baby is subsequently declared to be a US citizen. The left then claims that it is unfair to separate a child from the rest of the family, thereby making the child an ‘anchor baby’ shoehorning in half a dozen illegals. This practice is called birthright citizenship.

The left claims that Trump can’t stop this because of the 14th Amendment, which reads (in pertinent part):

All persons born or naturalized in the United States, and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States and of the State wherein they reside. 

It isn’t quite as easy as the left would have you believe. The Supreme Court decided this in 1873, and I would think that the court in 1873, a mere 5 years after the passage of the 14th Amendment would have a bit of firsthand knowledge of what the Amendment was for. This is what they had to say in the case of Elk v. Wilkins (1873):

This section contemplates two sources of citizenship, and two sources only: birth and naturalization. The persons declared to be citizens are “all persons born or naturalized in the United States, and subject to the jurisdiction thereof.” The evident meaning of these last words is not merely subject in some respect or degree to the jurisdiction of the United States, but completely subject to their political jurisdiction and owing them direct and immediate allegiance.

Meaning, of course, that it isn’t as simple as “where were you born” but indicating that there are more limits to be explored here. Furthermore, SCOTUS ruled in 1872 that the purpose of the 14th Amendment was:

The first clause of the fourteenth article was primarily intended to confer citizenship on the negro race, and secondly to give definitions of citizenship of the United States and citizenship of the States, and it recognizes the distinction between citizenship of a State and citizenship of the United States by those definitions.

The question isn’t as cut and dried as the left would have us believe. This one is going to SCOTUS, I think. This shows that Trump is not the ignorant buffoon that the left wants us to think that he is.

Social Credit and Lynch Mobs

If you are on social media, you have likely seen the video of the Philadelphia Eagles fan confronting a woman wearing Packers gear. He called a woman a cunt on video, seemingly because she was a fan of the opposing team.

Taken at face value, what the guy did and said was crass and deserved punishment. having been to sporting events with Philly fans, I can tell you that no matter what the sport, the fans from that city are just like this guy. The woman’s husband, had he done something, would have gotten his ass kicked by the rest of the nearby Philly fans.

Still, Internet lynch mobs are a thing, and this guy was soon identified by Social Media busybodies. The league banned him from all future NFL events, and I really feel that justice was served at that point. The punishment fit the crime, so to speak.

Still, that isn’t enough to satisfy the Internet busybodies. They don’t stop until a person has been destroyed. They also identified his employer and went after his career, successfully, I might add.

It also turns out that there is likely much more to this story. It seems that the woman and her soon to be husband who were the target of this verbal abuse are so-called “influencers.” The pair specialize in starting conflict and then filming the resulting chaos.

Fans have discovered that the fiance of the woman abused by Caldwell, Alexander Basara, is actually a content creator with close to 60,000 subscribers on YouTube.

And to add to the suspicion, Basara and his other half only attended Sunday’s game after he created a GoFundMe page asking for donations to help get him there – despite claiming to live an hour away from Lincoln Financial Field.

Knowing this, it is entirely possible that the guy and his woman provoked Caldwell so they could get his reaction on film.

That’s the issue with cancel culture- the Internet lynch mobs gather and destroy people’s lives without a thought as to whether or not they should. This very blog was targeted by a Cancel Culture warrior who wanted to get me fired and deplatformed. It was my readers who shot back and got her fired.

It shouldn’t be like that. It sucks that making a comment completely unrelated to work can result in the Internet gang looking to dox you so they can have you fired. Those are the rules we are being forced to live under, even if they do suck.

Experts

One of the things that kills me is that whenever anything hits the news, everyone on the Internet becomes an instant expert. It doesn’t matter if the subject is the use of force, medicine, fire suppression, or engineering. Whatever the big news article, the Internet has an easy solution, and since no one has implemented your solution, it must mean that there is a conspiracy of rich guys who are not doing it because reasons.

The fires in LA are no exception. The latest I have been seeing is:

  • how all of LA should be surrounded by a fire suppression sprinkler system that douses the buildings and surrounding countryside to ward off wildfires.
  • Buildings should all be built of the same materials as kilns or perhaps of bricks, so that houses won’t burn.
  • Neighborhoods should build their own reservoirs and hire their own fire departments to protect that specific neighborhood
  • Establish volunteer fire departments where people who live in a neighborhood could defend it

I can think of half a dozen reasons why each of those ideas would fail spectacularly. I am sure that my readers can as well. The easiest and most effective answers are the ones that won’t be used. Again, I use Florida’s wildland forestry system as an example. I spent more than 25 years as a firefighter, have a degree in fire science, and a hold a Red card as a certified Federal wildland firefighter, but I clearly don’t know as much as a Liberal Arts major who works at Starbucks and spends his time solving all of the world’s problems on social media.

Stupid

A few questions for this dipshit:

  1. Who is going to invite in this ‘global coalition’ of armies?
  2. What will the force composition be?
  3. How exactly will you get the US police, military, and the courts to sit idly by and watch as all of this unfolds?

Now a couple of points to consider:

Lets look at a couple of relatively recent events as guidance on how this will go:

Iraq is slightly less than 170,000 square miles in area, or about the size of California. During the height of the conflict there, the insurgents numbered about 3,000. Afghanistan is about 252,000 square miles, or slightly smaller than the state of Texas. During the height of the insurgency there, the opposition numbered around 75,000, mixed in with a population of about 35 million.

So both conflicts combined saw the coalition forces facing less than 80,000 insurgents in an area the one seventh size of the contiguous states of the US. Those two conflicts lasted for decades and cost more than 25,000 dead and wounded coalition soldiers.

Now expand that area to make it seven times larger, and instead of facing 80,000 insurgents, you now have 100 million of them all looking for a piece of your ass. The little masturbatory fantasy you are describing is total war between a third of the citizens of the US and an invading army. There are 100 million gun owners in the US, and those gun owners have roughly 600 million firearms. Just one percent of them would outnumber any realistic coalition force that would be here.

To the lefties who are dreaming of this situation, I ask you this: What makes you think that you will be immune to the violence? When they drop a 500 lb JDAM on your gun owning neighbor, are you counting on not being collateral damage? What about when your gun owning neighbor decides that you are the one who dropped a dime on his brother and got him shot by a coalition soldier? Do you think that no one will come after you? From either side?

These brain dead dumbasses have no idea what they are talking about. I know a guy who was a combat engineer in the Army. I also know that he has more than a couple of bricks of composition four stored in his house. I am betting that he isn’t alone in that. Now imagine a gun owner strapping 100g or so of that to a relatively cheap DJI drone and going hunting for some red force armored vehicles.

Use your own imagination to come up with resistance scenarios, and you quickly see what an unrealistic fantasy this is, which brings me to my point.

All of the armies of the world would find it impossible to subjugate the largest armed population that the world has ever known, which is the exact point of the right to keep and bear arms. Everyone who isn’t a fucking idiot knows this to be true, which is why no one has tried to take them.

On Interface Fires

The fires in California are called wildland/urban interface fires. The left is claiming that it’s due to climate change and Donald Trump (no, I’m not kidding) and spending most of their day deflecting blame away from themselves.

The fires are now beyond man’s control. With high winds, lack of rain, and humidity below ten percent, these fires are going to burn until they run out of fuel. There is nothing that can be done at this point to get this under control. Any time you are seeing dry winds of 70 mph, firebrands can fly for miles. Combine that with relative humidity below 30%, and there is nothing you can do to stop the fire from spreading.

The real problem here is a lack of forestry and poor personnel management. The fire departments in the area made the news a year ago because the city felt that the fire department contained too many straight white men, too much toxic masculinity, so they began a program of hiring black women. So now the LAFD has an unqualified dyke who, upon accepting the job, stated that her highest priority was promoting DEI in the department.

Creating, supporting, and promoting a culture that values diversity, inclusion, and equity while striving to meet and exceed the expectations of the communities are Chief Crowley’s priorities

How you manage the area before a fire starts matters. Lowering the fuel load by having prescribed burns while fire conditions aren’t conducive to spreading the fire is a key part of it. I blogged on this just a few years ago.

How you manage your biggest resource matters. You need to have people who are qualified and capable, not people who merely check all of the diversity boxes.

How you manage the tools those people will have at their disposal matters. Not refilling reservoirs because of climate change means that firefighters don’t have ammo to fight these fires. LA has been donating fire trucks and to Ukraine for the past two years, and has spent the last three years sending planeloads of firefighting equipment like hoses, nozzles, turnouts, helmets, body armor and other personal protective gear there since at least March of 2022.

Leadership matters. The mayor was in Africa attending the inauguration of the new President of Ghana as the fires grew.

The leftists of California won’t learn from this failure of leadership and failure of government. Instead, they will continue to blame the climate for fire weather conditions that have existed in California since people began settling there, they will blame a man who isn’t even President yet, and will continue to vote for the same failed policies.

California is getting the exact government that it voted for.

The coming troubles

While discussing the city versus rural conflict that is obviously coming, this is what a lefty had to say on the subject:

They think that whatever office job they have is skilled labor, because it required a degree from a liberal college, but farming is something that is so easy that anyone can do it with only a simple Google search. All they need to do is snatch away your land.

Communists always think this, which is why the Soviet’s agriculture was such a spectacular failure that the US had to sell them wheat every year.

Firgures Don’t Lie, but …

You know the rest. A great illustration of what that saying means is this article where the writer tells us the “living wage” for a family of four in Florida. Let’s read their definition of a “living wage.”

“Living wage” is defined as the income required to cover 50% necessities, 30% discretionary spending and 20% for savings. 

They then take the $23,637 cost of housing, $10,069 for food, and $7,350 for healthcare, which adds up to $40,056 for necessities. These necessities should be half of your income, so this extrapolates to a living wage of $80,112 per year, which they then somehow round up to more than $112,000.

Note that a “living wage” is what is being used to demand a minimum wage based upon 50% of the expenses of an average family of four. They begin with the expected cost of housing for a Florida family of four: $23,637. Let’s call that $2k a month. According to rent.com, that is the average cost of a two bedroom apartment. Not the minimum, the average, and that is the average across the entire state. If you move to a more affordable area, the rent will be less.

So the left takes the average cost of rent across the entire state, adds in a 40% fudge factor, then states that this is the minimum required to live. Liars figure.

Expect liars to push for yet another increase in Florida’s $15 an hour minimum wage.
