Ten states and the District of Columbia are violating the Constitutional rights of their citizens by banning so-called “assault weapons” and the majority of SCOTUS doesn’t care. The 4th Circuit concluded that assault weapons are not protected by the Second Amendment’s right to bear arms at all “because, in essence, they are military-style weapons designed for sustained combat operations that are ill-suited and disproportionate to the need for self-defense.” But even if the Second Amendment does protect the right to have assault rifles, the court continued, the law is still constitutional because it “fits comfortably within our nation’s tradition of firearms regulation. It is but another example of a state regulating excessively dangerous weapons once their incompatibility with a lawful and safe society becomes apparent, while nonetheless preserving avenues for armed self-defense.”
Where do the words “self defense” appear in the Second Amendment? The continued inventing of phrases by our courts that is done to justify whatever violation is popular that day is a travesty. That travesty is compounded by the fact that leftist Comey-Barret is again siding with the Democrats, and that Kavanaugh is again showing that they have photos of him at Epstein island or at a Diddy party, because his occasional lapses seem like he is being controlled. No matter the reason, out courts are displaying the total lack of regard for anything but political Kabuki.

When it comes down to it, the words of someone in a black robe aren’t going to be worth diddly-squat. But for now, the State’s guardians will pounce on you if you disobey the robed ones (and belong to the wrong group). “Loose lips sink ships” is still valid advice. So is “Better to be judged by 12 than carried by 6”

SCOTUS’ denial of cert here is a little bit puzzling. While we understand that the court only accepts about 1% of cases brought to it, and the justices want lower courts to sort out issues before they weigh in, the 2A issues associated with magazine capacity and “assault weapons” are crystal clear. Why SCOTUS isn’t willing to flatten the blatantly unconstitutional decisions of the lower courts, once and for all, is troubling. With a very short ruling, they could end the mischief and save countless hours and dollars, not to mention rights delayed (and hence denied).

The fledgling “United States” didn’t have time to build a navy for its war with Britain, and didn’t have the money to buy ships from other naval powers. So the “US Navy” was mostly either leased from private individuals or were privateers running under letters of marque.
In 1776, the most powerful weapon in human history was an armed ship of the line. And the government rented them from individuals. Some US Navy ships were still privately owned in 1789, so the guys who wrote the Constitution surely didn’t think that “arms” only applied to rifles and pistols.
In 2025, Elon Musk or Jeff Bezos could drop a partly-fueled Falcon or New Shepard anywhere on Earth they want, plus or minus a foot or two in any direction. You’d have a bigger-than-MOAB fuel-air bomb coming in at Mach 5 or better. Not as fast as the never-deployed “Rods from God” kinetic penetrators, but they’d explode real nice instead.

SO True . But it will garner the usual reaction from the sheep, the Conservatives and their talking heads and the Repubtards, nothing but BAAAAAA, we must vote harder for Repubtards.
As for the puppet MAGA Messiah and his minions, crickets. Too busy finishing the data centers to start the social credit scoring prison for his Tech masters. But don’t worry its a prison created by the rights Messiah so: Everything is FINE and double plus good.
The truth is the leftist know the right has no balls anymore, they WILL NOT stand up and say fuck this or cause any problems like the left does when thing don’t go their way. So we continue on the road to the commie utopia. But don’t worry this time Communism WILL work because they are Democratic Commies and want PURE communism this time.

One thing about the US, social order is predominantly a result of people desiring order rather than an effect of government. Are there enough bags to contain the variety and number of cats roaming this land? And even if there were, how would all those cats be herded back into all those bags? Even given the nonsense in many of our cities the jungle is relatively calm for now.
