Proving that Trump is merely trying to rearrange the deck chairs on the Titanic, a total of 26 Republicans in the Senate voted to keep funding USAID in full. Of course, some of them made vague claims in order to make it seem pragmatic that they do so. The Republicans have both houses of Congress AND the White House, yet don’t seem willing to use that power to do anything useful. You have to admire the Democrats- they at least know how to get shit done. When they had power, they forced things through.

There is no saving this nation. We will keep spending until the entire thing collapses. Why? Because everyone agrees that cuts need to be made, but no one wants to actually make them.

This nation is doomed to failure, and anyone who can use a calculator should be able to see that.

Just because Democrats are your enemy doesn’t mean that the Republicans are your friends. They are all, every politician, in it for money and unchecked power.

Im starting to think its best if the system does collapse. It will be ugly and the scale of pain and suffering will be on a biblical level. But its probably the only way any real change will happen.

I don’t think the collapse will be a Mogadishu type of anarchy. I think that it will look more like the breakup of Yugoslavia. The nation will likely end up divided into a number of regions. Some will band together and fight with others. There will be some fighting as regions fight over resources: seaports, farmland, fresh water, and other resources. It will take a decade or so and cost a few million lives, but what will emerge will be several much smaller countries.

I think in some cases, the border will be along current state lines. In other cases, like the areas bordering the current Mexican border, the drug cartels will control. There will be other areas where there is no government control. We are seeing that already, like the Autonomous Zones and the areas along the border. Still other areas will devolve into warzones- Atlanta, New Orleans, St. Louis.

Hasn’t a Russian been predicting that America would split into five separate countries?

Many years of experience in churches have convinced me that peoples’ hearts change very slowly, and almost never in response to persuasion. Events, OTOH, do change peoples’ ideas, opinions and organizing principles. Events will change a man’s religion, and religion is upstream from culture which is upstream from politics. So – I don’t think you’re wrong. Strap in for a bumpy ride. We were born for such a time as this.

It isn’t just that. We are spending ourselves into the poorhouse.

As a bit of a historian the Great Depression wasn’t as “kuymba” as often described in modern articles. People tended to help friends and kind folks might hire a hobo for a task for a meal.

      BUT

A lot of folks lost everything and became homeless wanderers seeking employment wherever they could. Thieves and thugs plied their trade. Folks stole and cheated (like selling refilled milk bottle with lime water) to keep going.

Stories from my Grandparents spoke both fondly of kids “playing” by going fishing so the family has something nice to eat and trading labor for some milk AS WELL as having to keep watch on the clothesline so thieves wouldn’t steal your stuff.

But today’s lack of morals I suspect far greater bad behaviors. Gimme Dats without their free EBT and such are going to get nasty about it. The worst of the Black Friday videos will look like kindergarten spats.

Taking religion out of the system, means anything goes for a lot of folks.

That’s why I advocate getting out of cities.

On the plus side it will rid us of a large portion of the libtard and gibsmedat population.

Thanks for pointing this out. I saw it and was hoping you would.

This just shows how weak and gullible the right is. They bought into they MUST support Repubtards no matter what.

I think it says everything the people on the right in this country need to understand when, at Trumps Congressional speech the Repubtards ALL stood up to loudly applaud Elon for finding theft of Trillions of dollars of public funds in .GOV. The same funds the Repubtards put into the budget in the first place and the same funds that are in the latest CR!!!!
Nothing will or can change now, its too late. The collapse is the only thing that has even ANY chance of returning what this country used to mean and stand for.
If you only believe one thing believe this: NO politician of any party or belief gives a fuck about you or your family, their purpose is to rule over you and take every dime of money and power they can get away with and NO .GOV agency can be trusted to do anything at all to benefit you or your family or this country.
Its much like the soldier when you are sent to a faraway land into a battle to ensure more corporate profit. The first thing you must do is accept you are already dead, after you do that the solutions to problems and winning the struggle suddenly are clear and the CORRECT actions are easy to take.

I think it’s an important distinction to note that they don’t borrow to spend but, rather, spend in order to borrow. They are, in fact, the borrower of last resort and only do so in order to stave off default. The nature of compounding, fiat based, currency requires ever increasing borrowing over time to settle previous issuances. It is, directly, an exponential function and there is NEVER enough currency in circulation to settle existing commitments. The end game was written in the cards when the first round of unbacked debt was issued at interest.

As our host mentioned, anyone who can run a calculator can see where is rapidly heading. Look at any pertinent graph – hell, the M2 supply chart will suffice – to see that we are now climbing the wall. Time does grow short.

We can, and IMO should, be having conversations about where this money ought to be spent. To me that is the more practical conversation to be having at this point. Shoveling dollars overseas has, probably, been a great choice all things considered. Were they all to have stayed domestic, inflation would have caught fire years ago.

Perhaps, at this point, investing in as many first class infrastructure improvements as possible – quickly – might make the most sense. At least there will be better roads and bridges when it all collapses. But collapse it will unless we can, somehow, start selling vast quantities of treasuries at negative rates. I am very open to hearing thoughts and, especially, contrarian views here.

As always, I am thankful to Divemedic for being such a gracious host and providing us this forum. Thanks!

In the GOP’s defense, they are getting things done.
    Stopping Trump is Job #1.
USAID was their cash cow too

they did this the first time orange man bad was in office…those career morons don’t want things to change…there aren’t repubs and demtards…they are 1 and the same and they will screw you, me, and orange man out of what he feels is best for our country…

I decided that the US was done as a political entity as I watched the 2008 US election results in Japan, on my last overseas tour in the Navy.

If the US population is so propagandized that they will elect an obvious Marxist as President, you might as well stick a fork in us.

Yugoslavia x Rwanda is what is coming, IMO. You won’t want to be anywhere near a major blue city when the wheels come all of the way off. If you are in walking range of the survivors of what will come out of the blue cities looking for food, well…..

I hope you have a couple hundred of your best friends, with artillery support, and a LOT of ammo.

FWIW – it was a continuing resolution, not a budget. Basically what they’ve been doing for decades – just keep what we’re already funding. Now that they gutted USAID, they won’t be spending the allocated money. At least that’s a thought.

    Divemedic · March 16, 2025 at 10:29 am

That’s the problem- they are continuing what has always been happening. Nothing will change. Nothing ever changes.

If you always do what you’ve always done, you are going to get the results that you’ve always gotten.
Insanity is doing the same thing over and over and thinking that you will get a different result.

Not the first time. As usual, the Party of Stupid fulfills its purpose as the alternate face of the Unparty.

Remember, the Republicans fought almost as hard against Trump as Hillary did in 2016, because he wasn’t the nominee the caucus was supposed to pick. The GOP supported Trump in 2024, but only because they wanted Trump’s supporters – who are quite often *not* GOP supporters – on their side.
