I have been saying for awhile, the true purpose of the police isn’t to collect fines. It isn’t to solve crimes and punish criminals. The true purpose of the police is to ensure that accused criminals get a fair trial. When people think that the legal and justice system have failed, they will take care of the criminals themselves.

In these days of ubiquitous surveillance (personal cell phones as well as mounted cameras, etc.), combined with the increasing ability to deepfake pictures, voice and video, I wonder how that will play out in practice. What is “reasonable doubt” based on, after all?

Dirty fact that the media never wants to come out is in the past the vast majority of guys lynched were guilty as shit and got just what they deserved.
I guarantee that if criminals start seeing their buddies swinging from trees that might make them think twice before committing crimes.
This is a sign of the coming implosion of our government. Their is no justice with the police and courts so people will take matters into their own hands. Next step — people will ask “if they are doing nothing, why are we paying a fortune for police and judges” ?

The problem is this NYFC, a gun-free paradise. What are they going to do and with what?
Remember Daniel Penny; stopped a guy committing crime on the subway and he’s the one being punished. Or the guy that defended himself and his business (his bodega) and he got charged with murder. If someone does the same thing to this pile of trash, they’ll be in prison and he’ll be on the streets.
The amount of cleaning up required to fix that place is at a level that seems to need nuclear warheads.

With this happening on video, with people willing to be open about it, I’m wondering what else is happening that ISN’T on video – I bet there are quiet reprisals taking place in NYC that the cops and media know about and are careful to ignore.
I’ve read a few isolated stories of it happening elsewhere; the movement is growing and the establishment is too scared to admit it.

You are so right and years ago this was the norm. My Great Grandfather said that 100 years ago in his small town, if someone messed with a kid or raped a woman, he just “disappeared” and left town supposedly before the cops could catch him.
In reality justice was done and that SOB is still in a shallow grave somewhere and FYI the Sheriff and his deputies either knew and looked away or helped do it.

What should be the punishment?

The only thing government must do is to stay militarily in control of the people they victimize, and the true purpose of the police is to protect the nobles from the commoners they steal from. There is no good government buried under all the evil government. The US Constitution implemented a government almost identical to the English government. It did that because the founding lawyers wanted to become an American aristocracy.
