Mexico is complaining that there are too many guns illegally entering their country. Perhaps they should build a wall to keep them out.

Yes once again these evil 50 caliber rifles are walking themselves across the border loading themselves taking careful aim and shooting innocent Mexican citizens.
We have the same problem in the United States with cars running over people all day long with no end in sight.

Mexico should allow their citizens to be armed so.they can protect themselves from the cartels.

I thought the cartels were importing the guns because, well, they’re drug cartels. Don’t they run the country?

Fast and Furious? Yes we can!

Yes, but it’s not safe to speak up against the cartels. It’s safe to shake your fist and yell at the USA or at guns in general.

It’s unreasonable to expect the coyotes and narcos to dead-head on the return trip. Even criminals need to optimize their profits.
In the 1930s, smugglers ran cigarettes to Canada and Caribbean countries, and brought liquor back. Cigarettes weren’t prohibited in those countries, but they were so highly taxed that smuggling them was modestly profitable, and better than heading out with an empty hold.

Some of this is lying with statistics since IIRC the 80% statistic applies to guns submitted to the ATF for tracing. Alternatively the 80% reflects that the majority of guns in Mexico are stamped “made in USA” because Mexico has no domestic arms industry and the cartels get a lot of guns via corrupt military officers and the FMS program. This means they are carrying select fire M4 carbines made by FNH and shipped in a container with customs paperwork and not Anderson semi-auto M4 look alike from Billy Bob’s Gun Shop. Mexico needs,to clean house because at this point it’s a narco state until a caudillo arises or a US expeditionary force shows up

Everyone in Mexico has guns except the law-abiding citizens.
